Heribert Pfaff's 1988 tragedy - Scientology withheld needed anti-seizure therapy For historical interest, consider the case of Heribert Pfaff. (This is not directly related to the Travoltas, they reportedly allowed Jett to use anti-seizure medication for several years before discontinuing it.) Death of Scientologist Heribert Pfaff

Just up at Infinite Complacency, the first half of a two-part article revisiting the 1988 death of Heribert Pfaff. When Heribert Pfaff died of an epileptic seizure in Clearwater Florida, he was using Scientology processing to try to wean himself off his medication. http://infinitecomplacency.blogspot...of-heribert-pfaff-i.html?utm_source=BP_recent My thanks to Markus Stuckenbrock and Fred Oxaal for elaborating on their previous posts about what happened to Pfaff -- and to German film-makers Egmont Koch and Mona Botros for their invaluable help with the article. I'll run the second half early next week. Jonny Jacobsen
Bravo, Jonny! <3 (The provided link is bumpy but the Home page button on your site presents the article).
I think that Jett Travolta also fits the pattern of a Scientologist taken off his medication dying of a seizure. Great read though. Thanks!
Tony Ortega wrote this today: Jonny Jacobsen Does It Again: A 1988 Death at Flag You May Not Know About Paris-based Brit journalist Jonny Jacobsen has produced another of his murderously rigorous investigations, this one about a 1988 death at the Flag Land Base that has had little attention. Jacobsen points out that the epilepsy death of Heribert Pfaff has been discussed at the Ex-Scientology Message Board in the past, but never with this kind of journalistic thoroughness and passionate attention. Pfaff was, like other Scientologists, convinced to give up his medication and try to “handle” his epilepsy only with Scientology processing and vitamins. Tory Christman has told us how much she suffered trying to do the same thing until she finally went back on her meds. But Pfaff did not, and he died at only 31. It’s a fascinating piece, and Jonny has labeled it part one — we can’t wait for part two. http://tonyortega.org/2013/07/25/cl...rate-david-miscaviges-control-of-scientology/
After Epilepsy Deaths, Scientology Website Still Extols Drug-Free Approach By Tony Ortega We told you about Jonny Jacobsen’s latest investigative coup — a detailed story about a largely untold 25-year-old death at Scientology’s “Flag Land Base” in Clearwater, Florida. Heribert Pfaff was only 31 when he died during an epileptic seizure while under the care of Scientologists, who had convinced him to go off his seizure medicine and trust in handling his disease only with Scientology “auditing” and vitamins. Tomorrow, Jacobsen is putting up part two of his story, and he gave us a sneak-peek at a surprising element of it: To this day, Scientology, at its website, is still extolling the benefits of handling epilepsy with auditing rather than medicine. “The item that really staggered me when I stumbled across it was the success story at the Scientology site,” Jacobsen tells us. “I couldn’t believe they were claiming multiple cures for epilepsy.” Here’s a screenshot of the “success story” at Scientology’s website that Jacobsen is talking about. Below it we have the text. Continued with open comments at http://tonyortega.org/2013/07/29/after-epilepsy-deaths-scientology-still-extols-drug-free-approach/
Second part of the article on the death of Heribert Pfaff is up now at Infinite Complacency: In a letter to German film-makers, Dr Klaus Ballin tried to explain his treatment of Heribert Pfaff. His patient had died from an epileptic fit after Ballin replaced his anti-convulsant medication with a Scientology-based treatment. http://infinitecomplacency.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-death-of-heribert-pfaff-ii_30.html
Dianetics prevented seizures until the early 70's, LRH died in 86. Something else must be the cause of Dianetics failure to prevent seizures after the early 70's!
That's why Miscavige wants to get rid of all the old-timers. One of them must be an SP who's PTS to Elron Hubbard! Once the SP is eliminated, Hubbard's miracles will start working again.
Perhaps the OG can say one way or the other, but maybe they used to screen the marks a bit better before Davy. Or simply never had people with such severe conditions before. Magoo went in in '69 and they certainly didn't cure her epilepsy.
