Help! INFODUMP: Hubbard Quotes on disability / disabled needed

The 'church' of scientology's policy on disability being discussed here:
    http://forums.whyweprotest.net/26-think-tank/disabled-access-uk-churches-71398/2/

We need L Ron Hubbard quotes on disability, the disabled, less able

Please dump just quotes here so they're in one place for any future projects - discussion is on the other thread. Thank you.

    So far we have :

Hubbard quote on people 'low on tone scale'

    From "Science of Survival"

"The only answers would seem to be the permanent quarantine of such ['1.1, or covertly hostile, low-toned'] persons from society to avoid the contagion of their insanities and the general turbulence which they bring into any order, thus forcing it lower on the scale, or processing such person until they have attained a level on the tone scale which gives them value.
In any event, any person from 2.0 down on the tone scale should not have, in any thinking society, any civil rights of any kind, because by abusing those rights he brings into being arduous and strenuous laws which are oppressive to those who need no such restraints."

    ...

"There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the tone scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the tone scale by un-enturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow."

    ...

"The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the tone scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered. It is not necessary to produce a world of clears in order to have a reasonable and worthwhile social order; it is only necessary to delete those individuals who range from 2.0 down, either by processing them enough to get their tone level above the 2.0 line - a task which, indeed, is not very great, since the amount of processing in many cases might be under fifty hours, although it might also in others be in excess of two hundred - or simply quarantining them from the society.

A Venezuelan dictator once decided to stop leprosy. He saw that most lepers in his country were also beggars. By the simple expedient of collecting and destroying all the beggars in Venezuela an end was put to leprosy in that country."

    From:
Scientology, The Clearwater Bar Association, and Judge Greer

One of Scientology's major goals is to change society's views about
death, dying, and those L. Ron Hubbard considered to be "past the
    half-way point": the disabled.

Scientologists believe (1) that a disabled person is in such a state
due to his or her own failings, (2) the disabled person will
deliberately move in the direction of death, and (3) disabled people
(Individuals who score low on the emotional tone scale) will also
bring death to those around them. (See L. Ron Hubbard's book, Self
    Analysis, chapter 4)

Scientology teaches that if a person is disabled it is his or her
    fault.

    -----------------------

    From 'The Free Being (1963)'

On FDR (who he refers to as Frankie the Limper) and polio

For instance, Frankie the Limper, over there, during the 30s, he wrote out a big check. He wrote out a big check. He only thought in terms of billions and things, and he wrote out this three billion dollar check and he handed it over and he says, “Build an atom bomb, and there you are, wipe out cities and so on.”

Well, the knucklehead, he had Congress under his thumb, he had everything under his thumb, it was all set and roaring to go. He could have written out another check for three billion dollars and given it to another group and said, “Build a defense for an atom bomb.” But you notice he didn’t do that. See what I mean?

He said, “Build an atom bomb. Here’s three billion dollars.” He didn’t say at the same time,
“Here’s three billion dollars, build a defense for an atom bomb.” So, you lay into a meat -
body society the skill to trap a thetan. Why don’t you teach him how to free one, see?

    ----------------------------
ACC lecture from 1954 (9 years before the above St. Hill lecture) Hubbard thought and taught that FDR engaged in mass hypnosis to give everyone the psychosomatic symptoms of polio.

Well, this practice of hypnotism is an expert, well-travelled, extremely well practiced suppression on as many dynamics as possible. Where one individual is concerned, or where a group is concerned. It's also expressed as "mass hysteria", you'll have large masses of people go into an hysteria of getting a similiar illness.

It is enough for some fellow to come along and be President of the United States -- who had a gimpy leg, and was moaning and groaning around about polio -- to shoot upscale the percentage of polio incidence in the United States to a point where it's now quite an alarming illness.

See, he popularized it. Actually he was in a position of authority and control and he all of a sudden could start talking about this polio, polio, and giving himself, an object example, of people who have illness or actually simply communicating--

Any form, any shape is a communication, by the way, let me interject that. Any form, any shape is a communication. When a person becomes absolutely insistent upon communication, he starts to take solid form. When a person is entirely insistent upon communication he gives it solid form, you understand that. You put it in writing. That's the first thing, next thing you know he's wearing a somatic.

This solid form relay of communication is expressed on a sort of hypnotic level. All of a sudden someone in power can communicate to everybody about what they ought to have, you know, by just being there, they ought to immediately have themselves a fine case of polio, and sure enough polio becomes an alarming disease. Adults all over the place are getting polio now. Who ever heard of polio before this?

There is also a taped lecture somewhere, where Hubbard blames someone with a crippled arm for creating the crippled arm. The crippled guy wants his arm to be crippled, according to Hubbard. Hubbard implied this guy could cure his own crippled arm if he really wanted to.

Can't remember which tape this is on. It's not in the Tech vols or any of the books, its from a taped lecture, probably from the Saint Hill Special Briefing Course. Maybe another ex can track this down.

From old Tech Vol II. I broke up the original wall of text into paragraphs.

Hubbard claims getting people to confess O/Ws (sins) cures polio and arthritis, and probably cures asthma. Hubbard also says anyone suffering from chronic illness only wants to get attention. And he claims that lame limbs (cripples) are psychosomatic (all in the mind).

I like where this is going!

    Blindness

    L. Ron Hubbard on how to cure blindness by shifting "attention units":
[laughter] "Now blindness is just getting these two groups of attention units off to the side so they can't see through the optic nerve. That's the stirrup of blindness. Nothing much to it. You're gonna resolve a case of blindness just get them to run the attention units which should be standing behind the optic nerve and then find what they did, about see.... by the way, blind men usually have burned somebody down with sight, or think they have. Fascinating. They'll never suspect this one. You ask 'em about this it'll show up on the e-meter and you start to run it. Boy do they protest. But if you run it their sight should turn on"

Hubbard book rejected due to views ont he disabled:

    Los Angeles Times/September 23, 1997
    By Duke Helfand

"State education officials on Monday rejected the latest version of a series of textbooks inspired by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, saying the books failed to properly depict disabled people and minorities."
"For example, disabled characters were shown with canes, representative more of the aging process than of a disability, said Ruth McKenna, the state's chief deputy superintendent of public instruction. A disabled character in the texts also was shown in a wheelchair alone, isolated from others. In addition, the books did not depict enough disabled people. "

From old Tech Vol II. Again with the polio. Hubbard claimed Dianetics auditing cured people with polio and arthritis. Old lady got out of her wheel chair, a girl threw away her crutches. Hubbard early on claimed that polio, arthritis and asthma were psychosomatic.

Re: Help! INFODUMP: Hubbard Quotes on disability / disabled needed

Some good stuff here in the Terry Schiavo case

"The "judicial competence" that Judge Greer has exhibited in his handling of the Terri Schiavo case is clearly the kind that ignores evidence and even Florida statutes in order to uphold Scientology doctrine—which requires the deletion of "social contagions" (the disabled) from society. It is no coincidence that a Scientology attorney—who was a lead attorney in the Lisa McPherson case—personally bestowed this award to Judge Greer. Greer's decisions to consistently rule in favor of terminating a disabled person do reflect high ideals—in the sight of Scientology."

One of Scientology's major goals is to change society's views about death, dying, and those L. Ron Hubbard considered to be "past the half-way point": the disabled.

Scientologists believe (1) that a disabled person is in such a state due to his or her own failings, (2) the disabled person will deliberately move in the direction of death, and (3) disabled people (Individuals who score low on the emotional tone scale) will also bring death to those around them. (See L. Ron Hubbard's book, Self Analysis, chapter 4)

Scientology teaches that if a person is disabled it is his or her fault. Terri has been falsely represented as being disabled due to self-induced vomiting which supposedly caused a potassium imbalance that resulted in a cardiac arrest. Medical records have disproved these claims, but these "facts" were presented in the court record and are still being promulgated via the media today. The truth is that Terri suffered serious injuries, (including a head and neck injury and numerous broken bones). An exceptionally competent neurologist testified (that Michael Schiavo's attorneys predictably attempted to discredit) stated that Terri's injuries are consistent with strangulation:

Scientology teaches that a disabled person will move in the direction of death.

According to L. Ron Hubbard's doctrines, a disabled person wants to die. Michael Schiavo never misses an opportunity to state that death is "Terri's wish." This is not true. Terri wants to live so much that she exerts tremendous effort to demonstrate her abilities.

Scientology teaches that disabled persons (Individuals who score low on the tone scale) will also bring death to those around them.

It is time to take a stand against this barbarism once again. Disabled citizens of the United States of America (including Terri Schindler Schiavo of Clearwater, Florida) must not be denied therapy and even life itself due to L. Ron Hubbard's disgust over the fact that a decent society takes care of its own:

Society, the bulk of which is bent upon survival, fails or refuses to recognize death or the urge of organisms toward it. Society passes laws against murder and suicide. Society provides hospitals. Society carries such people [the disabled] on its back. And society will not hear of euthanasia or "mercy killing." (Self Analysis by L. Ron Hubbard; pg. 28)

to a series of shocks which make "it decide" it cannot survive. Only after that does it
"cooperate" with disease. Up to that time it cannot seem to get ill. But when it does

hubbard makes clear his opinion on the mentally ill "the insane" "the nuerotic" in this set of interviews. here getting good at about 3min mark. the bullshitter weighs in on psychiatry..and just really fumbles around with a bunch of lies and bullshit.

after his own psychological diagnosis came in hubbard decided that despising the mentally ill was the best way to prove that he wasn't one of them, which is a clinical response...especially for a sociopath
