    Re: Help get information out of Iran

    We in the US have the option to opt in or opt out of this protest, and, of course, Chanology itself.

    I suspect that people in Iran are not being given much choice to opt out of what is a SRS BZNZ situation. It is entirely possible that students who felt strongly about opposite sides in the ongoing political debate over there were, regardless of "side", among the ones who had their dorm rooms raided, their computers and personal property destroyed, and their access to the Internet censored.

    Don't know about you, but I don't have to care strongly about the politics to get bristly about students like myself being targeted in such a fashion, the injuries and deaths of protesters, and at the strong-arm attempts to censor the free exchange of information and ideas and opinions.

    Again, YOU can opt out. Some Iranian youths who have been personally targeted may feel they no longer have such an option. Providing them a way to communicate is not, IMHO, a bad thing. And you don't HAVE to help, if your political disagreements with how Iran conducts its business make that distasteful to you, and manage to overshadow your concern for the individual Iranian people involved in the current situation who had nothing at all to do with foreign policy or politics beyond expressing--or trying to express--their opinions about those things.

    Each according to his or her abilities, after all. If you're not able or don't WANT to do something, you're excused. Pewping on those who can and will try to help in a small way is really unnecesary; just do not go to the iran.wwp site. And, no, I don't see this as replacing or becoming a bigger focus than Chanology, but the pewping on the idea repeatedly and griping "NYPA" is certainly taking up valuable enturbulation planning time, I should think.

    Just my opinion.

    The NERVE of some people. They should have licensed the Chanology trademark, just like Chanology licensed the Anonymous trademark from the Anonymous Trademark Officer.

    Chanology =/= Iranian people's protest.
    Whoever hosts this board wants to help out. That's his/her business. If you don't want to join in, no one is pushing you to. There is probably very little interests in the Western word for either outcome. But for me, this isn't about my self interests, or my countries interests.

    Some computer geeks in another country lit up the bat signal & are asking for help. Computer geeks stick together & goes beyond political, religious or national ideology. For that reason, I am throwing in to help. Governments suck, people rock.

    I wondered how you were modding Anon Iran without getting any sleep.

    This is not moralfaggotry. Free speech on the internetz is the foundation of chanology and why we got into this fight.

    Either the internet is free or we are all slaves. 70% of Iranians are under the age of 30, the same age as most anons. They understand the necessity of freedom of speech on the interwebs as we do. Even moar so because they do not have a free press, radio , or TV.

    People are getting killed for tweeting in Iran. The freedom of the internet is under attack in Germany. This is our fight as well as dismantling the biggest suppressor of free speech by any private organization on the planet.

    Those are Basij (or Hezbollah) in some Chinese-bought riot gear. The real police are reported to have their guns taken away from them and unable to help the people.
