I don't believe VMs will have any access to Haiti anytime soon if they're turning away Doctors Without Borders planes.

Doctors Without Borders Plane Not Allowed to Land in Haiti

Also, the atmosphere is reportedly getting very tense because many areas are not receiving water or medical services and people are dying from treatable injuries - many from gangrene from crush injuries). Dr. Sanjay Gupta (CNN on location in Haiti) just told Larry King they're seeing many "preventable" deaths. Antibiotics and surgeons/surgical supplies are needed. (He didn't mention anything about the injured needing touch assists.)

Come up to present time on the airport - fewer planes have been turned away lately than in the beginning. Also you just know that some guys might be impressed by hearing "John Travolta" being namedropped.

I think it's quite likely that they've landed. Dunno if they got out of the airport.

Dox or STFU - I am watching CNN live right now where they finished talking 10 minutes ago about that plane not being allowed to land. PRESENT TIME ENOUGH FOR YOU?

I tend to believe the people who are on site and the medical personnel who were turned away over an armchair know-it-all like you.

From my understanding, the problem with relief aircraft landing at PAP in Haiti, is that on the ground they've only got two fuel trucks and two tow bars and tugs. Additionally, they've only got enough ramp space to handle five transport sized aircraft at a time at PAP airport.

NO BECAUSE THAT PLANE WAS TURNED BACK ON SATURDAY - IT IS NOW TUESDAY MORNING.

It's quite possible that the Travolta-sponsored flight flew to the Dominican Republic without even asking to land in Haiti.

Anyone able to check flight plans and stuff?

It was turned away Sunday afternoon. They're still in the Dominican Republic. And, it's just past midnight there Tuesday (the same time zone as Eastern US)

Current local time in Haiti – Port-au-Prince

I'll believe the VMs are in Haiti when I see yellow tents up on the ground.

Sorry no brownie points for that. The VMs should know that their Hubbard tech is useless.

WRT real threats to life and limb, the standard isn't "knowingly" but "should have known."

Wasn't there also a death outside Gold Base some years back when someone drove into a digger being driven on the wrong side of the road, at night, with no lights on?

Thanks for contributing to the bottleneck, VM's.

I really want to believe that if they are not qualified aid workers and have no medical or security training, that they will be turned away, but, the VM's have been given their charges and must put in every attempt to fulfill those charges.

Do I have a problem with the fallacy that ananymous is a new phenomena? Do I have a problem with you calling me a garbageman? Do I have a problem with what ever "without deliberation" means?

I know you're trying to make a point some where it just gets lost in grandiose thinking. Here conduct a little test for me, grab random person on the street and ask them if they've ever heard of Anonymous or chanology ask them if they've ever heard of scientology.

If chanology works and it helps people they'll have no clue what it is but they'll know what scientology is and that it's a whacked cult.

Do I have a problem with what ever traits you're attributing to me? I refuse to be PC and worry about "will my post hurt your feelings" I use inflamatory language on purpose. Primarily as an IQ test. Most morons fall for the "he called me a twat!" and never get past that. Some will actually read beyond that and see if I have a point. I don't particularly care either way how you react to it.

Look at your world view of Anonymous. "Touched the hearts of all humanity" Do you think that's a tad delusional? Chances are you aren't delusional, you're just using colorful language to demonstrate a point. Welcome to the other side of the coin.

So, are any of those the points you were making? I still have no clue what the "what" refers to. Feel free to swing away, hopefully with a little practice you'll figure out a way how to ask a direct question.

    Oh hell...

    Volunteer Ministers (ScientologyVM) on Twitter

I think Kirstey Alley is supporting a questionable charity. Haven't other celebs been scrutinized and torn up by the press for doing that?

Their posts about donations and the military make it seem as if Larry King is doing their fundraising for them, and that the military is helping them personally.

If you have a twitter account, have fun :)

*Edit: the twitter account links to the VM "blog". In the blog they are claiming they are IN THE HOSPITALS in the Dominican Republic, and have put up a picture of someone in terrible shape with a gleaming, spotless, yellow shirt hovering over them. They also appear to be using photos (at least one) that belong to the US Coast Guard. Also, blog is claiming "medics", not "doctors". Google cache ling

Volunteer ministers don't learn any of that stuff; when they say communication lines they mean to trick people into including them in relief efforts, not actually setting up communications.

Re: Haiti Relief - Urgent IAS Announcement!

Here's what you're not getting. Your reaction to this tragedy and the reactions of the volunteer ministers are most likely one in the same- an immediate sense of sadness, empathy, and urge to help ease the suffering. And your response is most likely the same thing- how can I help. This is where the thinking diverges. The VMs believe that the tech is miraculous and can cure all the suffering that these people are experiencing. You, correctly, believe that resources and trained rescue personnel are what is needed to ease the suffering. Their approach is wrong because their tech will not help those people and they will likely only make things worse by getting in the way. But that is a completley seperate issue from why they want to go there. And saying their hearts are in the right place is saying that the reason of why they want to go there is good.

Brad wrote like 18 hours ago:
"i know i cant complain but i will...after 15hours of travel we are sleeping outdoors tonite. Didn't make it through Haitian border in time. "

Aren't they still going to be sleeping outdoors in tents near the palace when and if they go through the border? I wonder if he was told he would be sleeping somewhere else?

I heard on the news that the volunteers (they weren't talking about VM's) are sleeping in tents near the palace

    Hey, scientology,

Good luck with the whole "VMs can do crowd control" thing in Haiti. Might want to see how much trouble the Haitian police are having with this first.

so he flew into Santo Domingo on a Gulfstream V from Miami
Maybe he doesn't know his G4 from his G5 but Travolta has chartered out his own G4 (Registered to Odin Aviatiion in Burbank) but if it's a G5 you don't get to travel in greater style. Thats the watermark of serious money. If it was a G5, who the heck owned that?

I heard on the news they've created a large tent city for volunteers in Port-A-Prince being protected by U.S. troops.

Brad just tweeted: "Upgraded accomos; flush toilets and electricity but still sleeping on the floor."

Re: Haiti Relief - Urgent IAS Announcement!

    Slight digression.

I know you mentioned this earlier; I meant to respond and got sidetracked. Here's the problem: the Better Business Bureau is a scam. A dues-paying member of the BBB will never have a bad review.

The BBB does NOT intervene for the consumer. In order to get a "bad review," a company has to NOT pay them annual fees for "membership." That's about it.

So, why do legitimate businesses still file with the BBB? Because the public perception is that the BBB is akin to a consumer protection agency. NOT filing means you risk the average consumer's distrust, even though your business may be more ethical and have greater customer satisfaction than a BBB-member business that paid its dues that year.

The BBB is NOT like the far more reputable Consumer Reports (which solicits subscription fees from consumers, and thus is not beholden to any product manufacturers). The BBB solicits dues from the businesses it is supposed to offer honest reviews about; it does not do this. IF it was a gov't entity, and our taxes paid for this service, then MAYBE we'd have a chance to get more accurate information.

You can skip the next quoted bit if you like; it's copypasta from two of the links I've included below.

Tealdeer: The BBB goggles, they do nothing. You can't trust a positive rating OR a negative rating. The public still has the wrong idea about what the BBB does, however, so businesses still pay dues. Also, you can report any fraud you like, but don't hold your breath that it will change anything. Is it worth your time to bother reporting "bad business practices" / fraud with the BBB--cynically using the average consumers' erroneous assumptions about the BBB--when the BBB itself is so flawed? Only you can decide. :)

    ...and a theme song:

Yes, a 16 y.o. girl was beheaded driving home from Bible study. Her little sister in the passenger seat made it through OK (physically). No word on the whereabouts of Tom Cruise that night; perhaps he was helping at a different accident scene somewhere.

It's obvious that one of your missions in life is try to counter everything Herro says with your own blathering, without regard to the validity of the argument.

If you've got a valid counter-argument, by all means, bring it on. If you don't have some constructive criticism to add to the argument, might I suggest you SHUT THE FUCK UP?

Most of the time he/she makes a valid counter-argument. I'm pretty sure that's why he/she hasn't been outright banned here. I, for one, appreciate having someone playing the Devil's advocate here -- even if they occasionally cross the line into trolling.

You, on the other hand, come across as a fucking rah-rah advocate of anything that you think will negatively impact Scientology. Do you ever criticize anything we do wrong? Is there anything we could do better? Is there ever an outside view of our actions that could hurt us?

I'd love to hear any critique you offer, if you ever grow the balls/ovaries to submit such.

What's scary is that I had the exact same thought. Well, that or the quake was really from the VM's stats crashing...

Also, having come to understand the scilon method of "acceptable truth", I take all their PR with a grain of salt, particularly the latest stuff they're spreading about actually helping and "leading the effort". They are most likely equating watching something happen to actually doing and leading. "I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night."
