    Goodnight Sweet Prince: Bob Minton

Robert S. Minton, a former Scientology critic, dies of heart ailment - St. Petersburg Times

How sad. I wonder if his passing will allow the release of some "information"?

How sad. I'm sure the stress created by Rinder and Rathbun contributed to his heart ailment. Yet one more reason why R & R need to be held accountable for their crimes. Fuckers.

Why those two are out galavanting around and selling Toyotas while those they harmed did not get justice is beyond me.

    Sad.....sad.

(i didn't know he was knocking boots with Stacy.....)

I was present when they met for the first time.

Given their generally insane behavior later (that settlement with Scn, hello!) as well as their long-time animosity towards me, I rather wish (a) I'd not been there and (b) they'd never met.

That's all I have to say.

Minton tried for a long time and spent a boatload of money fighting the cult. He was public enemy no. 1 for the cult and they finally got to him.

I'll raise a pint to him and wish him to rest in peace in the auld sod.

Maybe Bob agreed to be forever silent about "what happened" to stop his critic voice, but did Stacy sign anything?

You know, it's not always about "what have you done for me lately".

Minton's past bravery isn't meaningless, whatever people might think about the 2002 settlement. He was there when Anon wasn't, with very few people backing him, and he took the strongest stand he could.

I admire that, and in fact, his past actions are of current value to me.

Bob did a lot to fight Co$. He took them on right in their citadel of power and he hurt them badly.

Bob will be remembered as an example of the lengths Co$ will go to in order to destroy critics.

Re: Goodnight Sweet Prince: Bob Minton

63 is way too young to die. I really wish Minton had lived long enough to tell what really happened to him and why he did what he did. What Scientology did to him, I am sure, broke his heart and left him a wreck.

I hope these fucking fiends never, ever get a chance to do to anyone what they did to Bob Minton.

Incidentally, his article on TOW really fucking sucks. It spends twice the time on his recanting (and does a lousy job at that) as it does on his actual activities as an enemy of Scientology, including the incredible level of harassment he suffered as a result.

Chanology has mostly cured this situation, but imagine you were a single person who had to face, as a single person, the level of bullshit dished out by OSA, but instead of not even knowing who their enemies were, and flailing around helplessly, that OSA could focus their harassment directly on you, as a single person.

In any case, I am lousy at editing TOW, but if there are experienced editors who haven't already been tarred by the ongoing Scientology wars there, it would really be a good memorial to give the poor guy a decent article instead of the pile of crap that is there now. I have done the usual obit edits, updating dates, changing tenses, updating the "Minton" page to contain correct dates, and other similar BS, but I am an idiot at editing wikis. So I can't do much more.

Anyway, ave atque vale. You deserved better than you got, Bob.
