(GERMAN) translation project: The Road to February 10 video ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Die aktuelle Version der Übersetzung befindet sich im costruth-wiki: http://wiki.costruth.com/trans/index.ph ... 008_German Änderungsvorschläge dazu sollten entweder dort oder hier im Thread gemacht werden. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Following anonimo's suggestion of making different threads for different languages, here's one for the german translation of the "Road to February 10th" vid. This doesn't necessarily have to be the version from which to start and to which to add corrections. It is simply a suggestion. What is good can be incorporated, what is bad can be discarded. remarks concerning this translation: my first draft for german version: no guarantees everything is correctly translated, especially concerning the Scientology PR person as well as the demonstrator explaining the legal difficulties. A lot of editorial work needs to be done, probably by someone that knows german to some degree, otherwise it will be difficult to get the subtitles fitting to the words (timing). I dont know about video uploads, synchronizing and stuff, but its something to work with. Sorry if all the cities are mentioned, but 1) some spell differently in german 2) I haven't seen a written list of the order of cities so far (a change from the video is the addition of "canada" (Kanada) and "US" (USA) after the cities and states there, so as to make them similar to all the other cities mentioned (place, country)). Feel free to add it to the wiki if you think appropriate (maybe its better to wait for some suggestions in this thread, so that it is worked upon here; dont know which is better) and change it there as much as you see fit. Style and content need to be checked. Sometimes there are reasons for the choices made when others seemed logical, eg.: "diese netten Leute von anonymous" statt "diese netten Typen", because "Typen" are only male, even though its more in character with "guys" than "Leute" which means people. Some signs that are long enough in the video to be read (about 2 seconds) were translated as well (I think this is part of the experience of watching this). There are a lot of such decisions to make- for the editor there will be a decision whether the big letters (those telling the story like in the beginning) should maybe be replaced by big letters in the new language; subtitles will imho do for virtually everything else. At some points it is inevitable as there are some situations where both is necessary, especially when the "message to Scientoloyg-video" is being read out- it might be possible that people seeing "The road to February 10th" (this is really impressive by the way!) for the first time get into contact with the "Message to Scientology", so there should be a translation for that present within this video, for the part which is quoted in there. Sry for this long posting, but the video is quite long as well. Everything in brackets like this [ ] are remarks not to be in the video just for readability, some signs in the text ("..." sometimes) shouldn't be put in there as well; in most of these cases there is an explanation in [ ] beforehand about those meta-meanings of those signs. Really great video.
