Well dood, maybe it's time that somebody started bothering somebody, because if it does turn out that this newspaper article is only a rehashing of the 2001 incident and has no bearing on the present refitting, that's one big footbullet for Anon, blue asbestos or no blue asbestos.

The article is about the Curacaoan government sealing the ship and annoucing to their citizens that it is a health threat. Yesterday. How thick can you be? Go write a letter to Karin Pouw, that's how.

The repairs to the hull required more than just grunt work, which is where it came unglued.

The repairs to the hull were just starting when the company the Scilons hired found the asbestos (or were warned about the asbestos by a "surveyor" - maybe their project estimator) and called the health department, which in turn called a press conference when the results of the tests came back from the Netherlands. They know how to keep a paper trail.

I can be plenty thick when I want to be. Do we actually have a dateline on this story? Solid independent verification that this is actually current news? I'm just asking because the only thing I've seen so far is a fuzzy photo of a newspaper clipping and some rather poor translations.

If so, then great, on with the happy dances. If not, then we've been had and running around alerting the media to a seven year old news story is cocks.

The pic of the Herald shows the date at the top - April 28, 2008. DANCE FOR ME, INCOG! lol

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

There are two stories. One is only a fuzzy photo because that paper is in St. Maarten and they have their annual carnivale this week and are not printing or updating the website. Cruel coincidence but no biggie. The second paper is in Curacao where they speak an unusual language. It is online and serves to corroborate the story in as much as we can see. It's real, we need to wait to find out from gov't officials what happens next. Fires have been lit beneath them and smolder as I type.

PS If you worked at an English newspaper and some bozo emailed you for a Spanish version you would tell him to suck a dick since you don't get paid to do that.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

People have called the company holding the ship, they confirmed that the ship is sealed and that people have been warned off it as of the 28th. This is not an old story being rehashed.

Edit: Now wif dox! I couldn't remember which article it was from, Radar of course. Fresh Intelligence : Radar Online : Scandal on the Lido Deck: Scientology Cruise Ship Exposing Passengers to Asbestos?

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Good then. As long as we can be completely certain that this tub is currently bagged and tagged as a biohazard, then on with the show. I certainly do prefer the happy dance version over any oh fuck, it's deja vu all over again version of this story.

My only point is that we do need to be damn sure that we're not just echoing some journalists musings about the past else KP's gonna make us her bitch.

No, I'd tell him to chupar el pico, but for reasons of my own.

So far that is the crux. Pl0x for the crux is a fair question on pg 29. We are all eagerly awaiting more news but can not manufacture it on our ADD timescale. An official statement from the gov't on the ship's status is the next goal but this is a job for the pros, not our personal army of e-tards. Unless you are Dutch and you wanted to find contact info for Secretary of State Gijs de Vries or the Antillean Plenipotentiary in The Hague, Carel de Haseth who are mentioned in the Papiamentoid LaPrensaCur article. As far as I know, the only replies we have seen have been from the company that does the work (CDM) not the gov't.
  11. Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Not true. The Freewinds is the ship. It is also the name of the magazine. The Church of Scientology organization that operates onboard is called the Flag Ship Service Organization (FSSO).

FSSO delivers many things besides just OTVIII and the OT Debug Service.

There are well over a dozen "OT Hatting Courses" which are courses based off of a lectures series (from the OT lecture series set). You can also do the Key to Life Course and the Life Orientation Courses.

The FSSO does not do "auditing", so you cannot do your "Bridge" there.

But there are certainly a lot of courses. The completions are published in the Freewinds Magazine. Samples were posted earlier of various celebrities completing courses there.

The OT Hatting Courses are now being "delivered" at Flag in the newly renovated Oak Cove building.

One thing we need to watch out for is that back in the 1990s the American Ambassador to the Netherlands Antilles (Howard Wilkins, original founder of Pizzza Hut) was a Scientologist.
I guess ambassadors change but it is worth someone checking out if he is still there. How to do that I don't know.

    C. Howard Wilkins, Jr. was the US Ambassador to The Netherlands from 1989-1992

The US ambassador to the Eastern Caribbean appears to be Mary Ourisman, wife of Mandell who is a Wash DC auto/real estate magnate.

Tom Cruise birthday boat on it's final voyage?

For fun, I sent this to ureport@foxnews.com to see if the news could get more coverage. Anyone else out there sending tidbits to FOX News to see if Roger Ailes is afraid of Scientology Inc.?

Tom Cruise birthday boat on it's final voyage?

In 2004, Scientology threw a lavish birthday bash for their top spokesman, Tom Cruise, on board the Scientology owned ship, “Freewinds”. What Tom cruise may not have known, it that the ship is reported to be riddled with deadly blue asbestos.

April 28th, this past Monday, it was reported that the ship has been quarantined in a dock in Willemstad , Caracao. During refurbishment work, the Curacao Drydock Company (CDM) uncovered the asbestos and reported the contamination. Local commissioners Eugene Rhuggenaath (Economic Affairs) and Humphrey Davelaar (Public Health) said that there would be an investigation.

A local paper, The daily Herald, reported, “CDM interim director Frank Esser, deputy head of the Department of
Labour Affairs Christiene van der Biezen were accompanied by two
inspectors and head of the health Department Tico Ras. Samples taken
from the paneling last week by inspectors that were sent to the
Netherlands showed that they contained significant amounts of blue
asbestos. After an extraordinary meeting, the Executive Council
decided to inform the public in general about the incident to avoid
    rumors and panic.”

Part of the deeper issue here is that the presence of the asbestos has been known since the ship was purchased by Scientology. In an affidavit dated January of 2001, architect named Lawrence Woodcraft testified that in 1987 he was a member of Scientology and assigned to work on the remodeling of the “Freewinds”. In the course of the project, he observed the asbestos and reported it to Scientology management. Specifically he notified Bitty Miscaviage, who was in charge of the project at the time. He testifies that he was told that asbestos was not dangerous and to continue the work.

When outside contractors recognized the danger, the work was left unfinished and work gangs of Scientology members were used to finish the work.

Do you hear Tom Cruise coughing? That may just be the sound of Mr. Cruise calling his lawyer despite Scientology policy forbidding members from suing the organization.

Could you just call the company that has the ship sealed and ask them about the insurance? Could you just say, Hey, I spent time on that boat and I'm worried about my health. Can you tell me who hold the liability insurance for it? Thanks. 'preciate it.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

This is gonna get juicy with every injury lawyer in the US jumping on this. What if... lawyers ran ads...."Were you recently on the Scientology Ship Freewinds? Call us now" They KNOW Sci has got the $$$ if not they could liquidate a lot of their real estate. ONE winning case could shut down the corporation for good. I am appalled that they knowingly exposed so many innocent people to this form of incurable, painful cancer especially when it could have been so easily avoided by taking action years ago.

Here's another new article from Insurance News:

Curacao Dry dock Company: Scientology's Cruise Ship Sealed Due To Asbestos Danger - - insurancenewsnet.com

    My favorite quote:
"Decontamination, if it is even possible, is likely to cost tens of millions of dollars and would result in the ship being in dry dock for many months."

That's just the ship...not even starting to count the cost of the legal battles they will be up against. Could this be the REAL beginning of the end?

If you read all 29 pages of this thread before commenting you'd have learned people have already called the dock in question (providing confirmation) and the Freewinds ship office ("delay").

The cult of Scientology has knowingly exposed thousands of people to the most deadly form of asbestos (blue asbestos) for over twenty years. When are the authorities going to pull their heads from out of their asses and ban this dangerous cult??

TV commercials for asbestos case Attorneys say even people who have come in contact with the clothes of an exposed person should call them.

*waits to see the commercial again so I can see who they are*

So uh CO$, how's those renovations coming along?... Good?

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Thanks! But I don't need to "lurk moar". I have been following the entire thread as well as related threads on OCMB, ARS and the numerous blogs where the story has been copypasta'd.

I remain 98% convinced that the story is solid, but on anything this major, I'll take a healthy dose of skepticsm over irrational exhuberance and I suspect the MSM does as well which may be the reason that going on five days since the initial report, the story has yet to pick up any real traction there.

Getting confirmation from someone at the docks is good, but we have yet to ascertain the credibility of the single source that happened to pick up the phone call. For all we know, it was a rum soaked night janitor.

As for the launch delay, that and the fact that scheduled OT VIII courses were being moved to FLB was known about well before this issue cropped up. Besides, delay's such as that are standard operating procedure for the cult these days.

I can respect that things happen in a different time frame in the carribean islands, especially during Carnival. I'm just a little edgy due to the amount of time that has past and the resulting levels of "he said/she said" that everything is still being based upon and am anxiously awaiting moar pics. Nothing wrong with that.
