The official Church line is: The ship is in dry dock for a total refit. That's what they're teling their public (parishioners) "Ship courses and auditing are being held at Flag Land Base whilst the Ship is being refitted."

They're making no attempt to admit to blue asbestos so there's nothing to apologize for.

Yeah, what I said was assy for being too broad. I do have sympathy for a kid whose birthday party is on Freewinds, or for someone who is 50s and not too swift with Google, believes in OTVIII, and Freewinds is the only place to get OTVIII.

But someone young who was raised WOG - if they expose their friends and family to blue asbestos just because they're too lazy or crazy to Google a boat - I don't think they're a victim.

As to who's been on the Freewinds: Well, just about every Scientologist because there are seminars quite often now that are cheap and they badger you into going if you look half capable of having a credit card they can max out.

So that means just about every Scientologist has grounds to Sue, Sue, Sue........I bet if they do though they'll get declared on the spot. That's how the C0$ works you know.

I just sent Ryan (local scientologist staffer, and possible SO member) a text:

"Hi Ryan. Freewinds has been sealed and impounded by Dutch authorities over blue asbestos. Every visitor needs to be checked by GP asap!"... or something to those effects.

This follows on from the phonecall that I had with him in March, where he kind of snuffs at my remark about the Freewinds being riddled with blue asbestos. It was one of many seeds planted over the past couple of months.

Just for the record (I've re-listened to the phonecall vid for the 1st time in ages)... I mentioned in the same telephone call that OTIII was available for free on the internet in Hubbard's original handwriting. He did not believe that.

The following protest was the April 12th one, and one clever anon printed the old OTIII on an A2 sheet of paper. I focus on Ryan quite a bit as we explain what it is... and when my fellow anon starts reading it out aloud, Ryan sticks his fingers in his ears and runs into the back room... though re-emerging in disbelief (and once the TV is turned up) towards the end of the reading.

When I read about this, the insurance agent part of me choked a little bit. This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE liability case. They were told there was asbestos and they did nothing about it. They are liable for every case of lung cancer that results from exposure on the boat.

The "Freewinds" thing you are referring to is just the publication that Scientology published that particular completion list in. The only courses taught on the Freewinds are (new) OT-VIII and OT-VIII (debug)

Everyone aboard the Freewinds who knew about the asbestos sincerely believed (brainwash) that asbestos wasn't really harmless. They said that if it were harmful then Hubbard would have said so in his books. According to Hubbard, cancer is caused by sexual deviance and the like. They simply believed Hubbard over what is fact about asbestos. Brainwashed people are brainwashed. If Hubbard said that combing your hair with a straight razor was the best way to comb ---- they would do it.

I have to disagree with Unix is not Xenu. People who board the Freewinds are victims of Hubbard's bullshit....victims of ALL of his lies. They were all insulated from finding out truths - asbestos being a carcinogen was just one of many things they were mislead about.

There is no way that happened. That boat hasn't been in US waters. OSHA testing only applies in the US. Oh wait- "testing standards" How in the world do they know what those standards are and who is auditing the tests to insure that the criteria is met? Don't tell me, let me guess. The Sea Org. You know what really sucks? With all of the resources at their command, (ill-gotten, though they might be...) they could have spent the money and taken the time to prep the boat correctly, when they first purchased it. But no... Their callous disregard for human life and their voracious greed is what won out in the end, and now, victims of this fucking cult might end up dying an horrific death because of it.

Scientology Asbestos Ship Quarantined, Thousands May Have Suffered Exposure


MV Freewinds is a cruise ship owned and operated by the Church of Scientology under the name 'Majestic Cruise Lines'. Thousands of people have been aboard the MV Freewinds after paying to attend Scientology courses, training services and functions.

As of April 28, 2008, the MV Freewinds has been sealed and quarantined at the Mathey warf in Otrobanda, Cura�ao, Netherlands Antilles, following the discovery of significant amounts of blue asbestos in the ship's structure. A statement from the ship's captain has revealed previous incidents where blue asbestos was released into the ship's ventilation system. The Cura�ao Drydock Company (CDM) was contracted to conduct refurbishment and repairs on the MV Freewinds, but has ceased work due to the risk of exposure to the asbestos.

CDM interim director Frank Esser and deputy head of the Department of Labour Affairs Christiene van der Biezen were accompanied by two inspectors and the head of the local Health Department, Tico Ras. Samples taken from the paneling last week by inspectors showed that they contained significant amounts of blue asbestos. After an extraordinary meeting, the Executive Council decided to inform the public in general about the incident to avoid rumors and panic.

Anyone who has been aboard MV Freewinds may wish to see their doctor to assess their level of exposure, and commence appropriate health monitoring and management.

Seven years ago, allegations were made that Scientologists aboard the Freewinds were being put at risk of asbestos exposure. An affidavit filed in 2001 by Lawrence Woodcraft, a former Scientologist and trained architect, claims that Woodcraft encountered the blue asbestos while working on the ship in 1987, and promptly informed Scientology leaders. It appears that for over 21 years, the Church of Scientology has knowingly exposed passengers to what is generally considered the most lethal form of asbestos.
