Freewinds sealed and blue asbestos confirmed

I don't know any general rule that says this - I believe it's a crime to knowingly expose someone to a dangerous chemical. I do know that you have standing to sue for asbestos exposure, even if you aren't currently displaying any symptoms. Mesothelioma can take 20-50 years to manifest, and that is not the time to start a lawsuit.

I know that if the CoS had exposed me to that stuff, I'd be calling a doctor now and a lawyer now+10 minutes. I'd be demanding - at the minimum - a large enough chunk of money dropped into my Health Savings Account so that any time I even think I'm going to cough, I can get it checked out.

What does that mean in English?

how does it compare to, for instance, the GNU debugger or the one that comes with Ruby?

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

As others have said, if you were even exposed, look at your options asap, like as soon as you read this. That one anon's dad was diagnosed and deceased in the span of 3 months. I'd be scared shitless, not being wishy washy about it. (no offense intended)

They have renovated, drilled into the ceilings, had things replaced, docked (vibrated the dust around the ship) how many times since 1987? Enough to put them well into the "criminally negligent" category (not a lawyer) for all the people that they knowingly exposed to this very nasty carcinogen.

Because the freewinds is in "drydock" for reno's and repairs they have set up
the "Freewind's course room" at Flag Land Base In Clearwater. Scn is crazed
about stats and the Freewind's can not let stats go down just because the ship
is in drydock (or now sealed up tight) so they continue to "deliver" services
to Freewinds Paid public-- only the do it at Flag.

The OT Debug Service is a "Freewind's ONLY" service. It's for people
who are having trouble going up the "Bridge". It's basically a list
of possible reasons on "why" you are not moving up the Bridge and
    the Scn "handlings" for them.

Scios pay about 4 grand for that.

Haha, I just called one of those cancer lawyers and they said they already knew about it and were passing it on.

I told them about the Woodcraft avidavit. Hope they will pick it up ASAP.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

I said it previously in this thread and I'll say it again. As obvious a foot bullet as this is to the CoS, scientologists as a whole need to be informed about this. We don't really possess the means to do that because they won't listen to us. They're also insulated from a lot of the media. They have no idea that they've been exposed.

Contact your local and national cancer charities and ask them what can be done to notify the people within the CoS. Make it clear that the management has known about this for 20 years and didn't act, and obviously aren't going to start telling people now.

Those cancer charities have political clout we just don't have. They can get the message to government officials who can help the people exposed. They can also send volunteers into the orgs to pass out information and find out if anyone there had been exposed. So please, on top of everything you may already be doing, contact any cancer charities in your area.

I've already sent emails to the Canadian Cancer Society and Cancer Cure Ontario. I'm going to focus on other Canadian charities tomorrow. The more people that contact the charities, the more likely we can get the message to the people still in Scientology.

Also, props to whoever wrote the message on the Scientology Myths blog (who also contacted charities). Any means of getting this info into the hands of Scientologists is a good thing.

Man, does that mean that the new OT9 = Get Cancer???

Does that make OT10 = Get AIDS?
  13. Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Anyone in possession of Scientologist mailing lists: please forward (anonymously, if you please) to all asbestos lawyers. Two can play the spam game.
  14. Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Wait.... DM has been on that ship regularly since he was a KID, hasn't he? Mebbe it ain't just asthma.

Actually, for those of us who've been wondering whether Hubbard and DM actually believe the shit they're spewing or if they're just con men... that's a pretty clear indicator right there. If DM thinks he's OT enough to not mind living on the Good Ship Cancer-Ridden for extended periods, he really IS nuts.

So, reading this thread I came up with a graphic idea involving blue asbestos.
While thinking it through, I realized it may be in poor taste... so I redirected it to this all purpose graphic.

If people still IN Scn hear about this, will they really worry about it like they should or will they just think that they are Clears and everything is fine?

Jason Beghe said he'd been on that ship!! Maybe he needs to make another video.

    Fucked cult is fucked

I feel for every unknowing soul who ever boarded the Freewinds.
  28. Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Astra Woodcraft's father, architect of Freewinds, warned Scientology of blue asbestos before its first passenger boarded. Bob Minton warned the world of blue asbestos in 2000 or so. I've heard it mentioned here and on OCMB continuously since 2007.

Anyone who took a cruise on Freewinds in the last few years: I have little sympathy for you. If you're going to drop a few grand on some activity, Google it first please. Read the positive and negative sides. It's free FFS.

You need to buy a newspaper. You need to endure commercials to watch TV news. But Google is a free firehose of information. If you let some cult convince you to stop Googling, then maybe you don't need sympathy.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

When CoS has renovated the Freewinds in the past, they kept the asbestos a secret by having Sea Org swabs do all the work. Looks like they might not have enough people on lines this time, since they hired a company to do the work.

One thing that makes asbestos so dangerous is that the particles have a rough and irregular surface that catches on the lung tissue and can't be coughed out. Blue asbestos particles are the roughest.

what company is it? i'm going to contact them to make sure they know about the asbestos threat, and to document everything they find.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

There are three types of asbestos used commercially. Chrysotile, or white asbestos is composed of fibers that naturally curl, and while they may be inhaled due to their frangibility, they do not necessarily cause immediate damage to the lung tissues. Chrysotile type asbestos accounts for 95% of all asbestos products in America.

Blue and brown asbestos, known as Crocodilite and Amosite repsectively, fall into the category of FUCK THAT SHIT. Don't go near it.

Crocodilite was used in some shipyards during the WW2 era. Too bad lung cancer wasn't invented back then, or they might have noticed a really bad correlation of cases with shipyard workers and mariners who came in contact with the stuff.

Hey does this mean they need a list of every single person that was on that ship so they can be notified?

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

could this also mean that the insurance on the freewinds is void?

Didn't Jason Beghe spend some time on the Failwinds?

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

It's the same company in Curacao that was responsible for sealing the ship, and they are already working to notify employees.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Right, because scientologists are encouraged to look up stuff on their own. Plus, most OT's are already in their 40s, 50s and have devoted their whole fucking life to the cult. Don't be an ass.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

Yep... So did Kendra of Ex-Scientology Kids (she had her 7th birthday there, and was the youngest person allowed on the Freewinds at the time) and of course Astra's dad, Lawrence Woodcraft. Michael Pattison did as well. As far as I know, those are the ex-Scientologists we know for *sure* that have been on the Freewinds. I'm sure there are tons more, though, as there were a lot more services delivered on board than just OT VIII.

My guess is Jason sues... He's already trying to get his PC folders back, so this would be a natural extension. We'll see... I sure would. If I spent *any* time on the Freewinds I would.

Re: Freewinds sealed and blue abestos confirmed

There are, literally THOUSANDS of Scientologists who have travelled on the Freewinds, to do OT8, short training courses, vacations, "OT Debug" services and more....

The staff of over a hundred have been on there full time since 1986.

When the Freewinds goes into and out of docks it vibrates enormously. This may be why the asbestos could actually be a huge risk for the passengers and crew.
