    don't care for it
I still like mine. It has the word policy and it states where the proof came from
Proof of Scientology's Disconnection Policy as Told by Former Members and Others
Accounts of Scientology's Disconnection Policy as Told by Former Members and Others

The nice thing about making a decision this early is there's been no formal public announcement of this list yet. Should we make a poll about the title?
  3. anon8109 Member

I think the people doing the work and who had the idea should have the final say regardless of any poll outcome.

The good thing about using "Accounts" in this version is you can drop the "as Told"and it still makes sense, because that's what accounts are already, so it can be:
Accounts of Scientology's Disconnection Policy by Former Members and Others

Incred, could you please insert these?
I have already put Chris Mann in my post about M.

The others will follow when I get to them.
  9. TrevAnon Member

    Working on it. ;)

No, she doesn't. In fact it's a pretty repulsive video where a giant cardboard copy of the cancellation of disconnection is shown (with no mention of it being reinstated in 1983)
  11. Incredulicide Member's main data center just went down.

So I have to go out and face real life while we wait for it to go back online. *Starts looking for cat videos*

For the following names on the big list, please add the label "Victim of disconnection" to their name with the links I am giving.

    Karla Nava Sister disconnected
Carol Nyburg Because of the threat of disconnection she went back in.

Tanya Neujahr Mark Bunker did a 4 part interview with her where she tells her story. Someone please check to see if there is a disconnection angle.

Halfway mark seemed a good time to insert the A-M names from that post which aren't false positives.

yes, watched it. Disconnection from her friends. As far as her father.... don't know if she stopped talking to him or not for good.
But her friends she had to disconnect from

You could start at Z and work upwards. We'll meet somewhere.

For searches I am using this in Google

scientology disconnection -"big list" -"former church members" "<name>"

I use a textfile to copy and paste the searchstring. Maybe you would also like to work that way. See attached file. However I made this on Linux. May not open properly on Windows (if that is what you use).

Hey RO, is Midge the only result you got from Z?

I mean, did you check all names from Z before posting?
  26. RightOn Member

I only checked the first couple of names, not all the names.
And she is the first one I found.
I was just going to edit and add to it. BUT
I am going to let you guys handle this. You have a better system and my carpal tunnel is acting up :(
  27. Incredulicide Member

Might be the first non-scientologist name to be added:

(I know we're supposed to wait for this thread to be closed and a new one opened, but she just couldn't wait :p )
Real life takes me AFK for a few hours if you're wondering about the pause in posts/wiki updates.
  28. TrevAnon Member

During my search until now I have found surprisingly few names from non-scientologists / never ins.

These are their stories names. (Inb4 Law & Order.)

    Tony Leigh Daughter disconnected

Viviane Kubrick, wife of the late Stanley Kubrick, lost her daughter Virginia to the cult:

Susan Lentsch Daughter in Sea org disconnected from her. Video with letter read by Mark Bunker.

Ann Stainforth Her daughter Zandra disconnected. Actually, the story does not qualify as we leave out stories told by others then the person affected him/herself. This story is told by well known ex Sharone Stainforth

Your health is way more important than anything else. Be well. :(
  30. TrevAnon Member

Would it be good to somehow mark the never-ins as such?

ETA: calling it a day for search. Will go on tomorrow with R.
  31. Incredulicide Member

Not IMHO, it would actually be quite bad to "special case" them when they should be seen equally as much victims as former members. Also we don't want to predict they'll remain a minority on this list if my hunch about what might happen when this goes public is correct.

Don't forget Tony from England and daughter Becky!
  33. TrevAnon Member

About 160 entries so far. I have 23 on the way.

I guess we'll end up above 200, which would mean we can say "hundreds of documented cases"!

  34. Trev,
    That is all.

    Thought about this a little.

When there was a press release for the big list going >1000 it got picked up quite a lot. At that moment the public at large was still afraid of the cult, and there still was the thought that critics of COS were just a small number. And then there was proof that wasn't true! Later milestones in the big list were generally met with "meh" outside of the anti-COS-community. The big list continues to serve its purpose though. There are still people who don't know about it and are really surprised to see it. So it now does its work more in silence.

This new list will refute claims by COS that disconnection is voluntary. I don't think it will generate much publicity outside the community. The best we can hope for is a blog post by Tony or a tweet by Leah. Also, compiling a list - however much time we put in it - is not something you will see on a news show. An easy to explain actual disconnection case with an attractive woman (cue name from the list) is commercially much better. All you can hope is they will say "... and this is not the only case" while doing a 2 second screenshot. That would be very nice.

My hope for the new list is that, like the big list, it will be used in the background. If it helps to get only one person out of the cult then it will have done its job already. And I, for one, do not even need to know about it.

Maybe I'm just wrong though and I will go all Hollywood on all of you. :D
:) Actually the other day I thought about the alternative of simply renaming this thread to "finding disconnection stories". How about that?
  36. Incredulicide Member

    Sounds fine to me
  37. RightOn Member

Can we be sure to provide in bold a link to the Big List from this list?
They should make a nice marriage.
  38. Incredulicide Member

Sure thing, I'll probably add it in the same sentence that mentions the current total of this list when we know what it initially is.
  39. TrevAnon Member

For the following names on the big list, please add the label "Victim of disconnection" to their name with the links I am giving.

Kirk Radandt Son disconnected. Here Mike Rinder does a memorial for Kirk, so Kirk is not speaking himself. Technically not for the list, but I'm sure no one will say he can't be on.
Joe Reaiche His 4 kids (Alanna, Jordan, Danny and Chris Masterson) disconnected
Leah Remini Friends were told she was no longer in good standing so they had to disconnect
    Kelly Reno Son disconnected
Betsy Reppen Didn t want to disconnect from husband Mike
    Mike Reppen Nephew disconnected
Michael John Rinder - Almost whole family disconnected Video'd trying to get in contact with his son
Edwina Ristano She disconnected from her father and did not speak to him for a year.
Pierre Robillard disconnected from a friend and regrets it

Can't quickly find a link of disconnection for the following. Please try and find yourself.

    Roland Rashleigh-Berry ?
Mark C. Rathbun - Maybe his first wife? I think she was on Anderson Cooper. Divorce could also have been for another matter then disconnection.

    Before I wrote this.

I would now prefer in the introductory text somehow to make clear that stories as in situation 2 above are not wanted. (Well, at least not by me. :) )

I know I said earlier that allowing for situation 2 would be fine with me (although I wasn't planning on doing A-R again), but I have changed my mind. I think it would strengthen the list to only have personal stories (and affidavits); not "unpersonal" stories. Hell, even I have seen Tom Cruise disconnecting from Suri. ;)
