Federal and state agents raid home of Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle | 13 WTHR Indianapolis

By Steve Jefferson, WTHR, July 7, 2015

Federal and state agents raided the Zionsville home of Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday as part of a child porn investigation.

This follows the April arrest of Russell Taylor, the executive director of the Jared Foundation, for child pornography.

The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children task force is the lead agency on the investigation.

They are removing electronics from the home and they are being analyzed inside a mobile forensics van in the home's driveway.

Fogle has been detained outside his home, although he is not under arrest.

Fogle's wife and children left the home shortly after the raid began.

Crime Beat Reporter Steve Jefferson is on the scene to bring you the latest on wthr.com and Eyewitness News.

So far there's no word of him having been arrested or charged with anything.

Police raid Zionsville home of Subway pitchman Jared Fogle

It could not be immediately confirmed why police were at the home, which is on the 4500 block of Woods Edge Drive. But the raid comes nearly two months after the executive director of Fogle's foundation was arrested in Indianapolis on federal child pornography charges.

FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne this morning confirmed that the agency was conducting a criminal investigation in the area, but she would not comment on the nature of the probe.

She referred questions to officials from the U.S. attorney's office, who declined to comment, citing a Department of Justice policy that prohibits them from confirming or denying the existence of an investigation.

Indiana State Police also referred questions to the U.S. attorney's office.

Subway spokesman Jared Fogle’s home raided in child pornography investigation | Fox 59 Indianapolis

Fogle left his residence shortly after noon. He made no comment as he left the scene in a car with his attorney.

Fogle’s lawyer, Ron Elberger, told FOX59 Fogle was not aware of the FBI search warrant prior to the raid.

    Elberger released the following comment:

Jared has been cooperating with law enforcement and its investigation of certain unspecified activities and looks forward to its conclusion.

Jared has not been arrested, detained or charged with anything.

A Subway spokesperson released the following statement:

We are shocked about the news and believe it is related to a prior investigation of a former Jared Foundation employee. We are very concerned and will be monitoring the situation closely. We don’t have any more details at this point.

The Latest: Subway suspending relationship with Jared Fogle | The Associated Press

Subway sandwich chain says it's suspending its relationship with Jared Fogle due an investigation involving the chain's spokesman.

The statement from the company says Fogle continues to cooperate with authorities and that he expects "no actions to be forthcoming." It said both sides agreed suspending the relationship was "the appropriate step to take."

The statement comes after Subway removed pages referencing Fogle from its website. Fogle's home had been raided earlier Tuesday by federal and state authorities.

There's still no announcement of any charges, and this article is the only development I've found that may or may not turn out to be significant.

Sarasota woman claims she wore FBI wire to record "Subway Guy" Jared Fogle | WWSB ABC 7

NOTE: Video of the interview will be posted here this evening. Check back for more.

The man known as the "Subway Guy," Jared Fogle, has not been charged or arrested, but we're learning in an ABC 7 Exclusive, that the FBI may have become first aware of Fogle from a Suncoast woman. The woman, who asked us not to identify her, says she spoke with Fogle numerous times starting about 10 years ago. Fogle would often travel to the area to participate in events like the American Heart Association Walk.

The woman, who is a former journalist, tells us Fogle often made surprising and inappropriate remarks while the two were speaking. "He said something to me when we were off camera and that really stuck with me. I thought to myself, 'did he really say that to me?'"

The woman says she became so alarmed over his comments that she decided to contact the FBI. "The subject matter is similar to what the FBI found when they raided his home. It goes deeper than that," said the woman.

The woman would not release any more details about their conversations, but says that after she contacted the FBI, the agency had her wear a wire and record phone conversations. "It was the right thing to do, and I was able to do it and I have fortitude to do it. That's the main reason I did this," she said.

Fogle's attorney, Ron Elberger, told us over the phone that he has never heard of the allegation before, calling it "an unrealistic fabrication."

Jared Fogle -- The Feds Found Nothing in My Home | TMZ

Jared Fogle isn’t behind bars because the FBI has nothing on him, according to his camp. Fogle's legal team tells us there's a very good reason we didn't see the feds marching the ex-Subway spokesman out of his Indiana home this week. They say they're confident the FBI raid turned up nothing that incriminates Fogle.

It's unclear where the investigation stands. We reached out to the U.S. attorney’s office, and they were extremely tight-lipped, not even acknowledging there's a probe.

Fact is, Jared isn't in custody, but the damage has been done. Subway quickly suspended its relationship with him, and charities have run for the hills.

The FBI has subpoenaed lewd text messages between Subway's Jared Fogle and a former Subway franchisee

By Hayley Peterson, Business Insider, July 31, 2015

The FBI has subpoenaed an affidavit containing alleged texts between former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle and a former female Subway franchisee in which Fogle says he paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl, according to the former franchisee's attorney.

The former franchisee, a woman, shared the texts and her concerns about Fogle with Subway management at the time, her lawyer says, but Subway did nothing. Subway says it has no record of the woman's complaint.

The woman's lawyer, who asked to remain anonymous, said the FBI recently subpoenaed his law office for the text message conversations, which Business Insider has viewed.

In the messages, Fogle repeatedly asks the woman — a Subway franchisee at the time — to advertise herself on Craigslist for sex with other men. He asks her if he can watch the sexual acts and tells her she can make about $500 per act.

The messages in the affidavit, which the attorney says were recorded from the woman's phone by a court reporter in 2008 and witnessed and verified by a notary public official, span from January 2008 to June 2008. Business Insider independently verified the authenticity of the affidavit. We also verified that a phone number in the document was registered to a Jared Fogle.

The woman was apparently in a sexual relationship with Fogle at the time. She became uncomfortable with the relationship as Fogle pushed her to post listings on Craigslist and detailed other trysts, according to her lawyer.

    <snipped>

According to the affidavit obtained by Business Insider, Fogle asked the former Subway franchisee in May 2008 to set up a meeting for him with her cousin. The cousin was underage at the time, according to the woman's lawyer.

When can we find a time for me to talk to your cousin?" Fogle asks in a message dated May 1, 2008. "Any more news with your cousin?" he asks the following day. "Tell me what u think about when u think of the three of us all together???" Earlier, in April, according to the affidavit, Fogle asked the woman, "How young would you like?... Would you want to have an adventure like that?"

On June 19, the lawyer says that Fogle again asked the woman to advertise herself on Craigslist. She responds: "Is this the same website you found that 16 year old girl you that you f*****? ...I still can't believe you only paid $100 for her." Fogle responds: "It was amazing!!!!" She asks: "What part of her ad made you think she was selling sex?" He says: "U will have to read them to see."

The age of consent in Indiana, where Fogle is resides, is 16 years old.

Fogle's attorney, Ron Elberger, who has been quick to respond to questions in the past, has not responded to calls and emails from Business Insider about the text messages.

The woman, who initially met Fogle at a Subway function, grew uncomfortable with the conversations over time and hired a lawyer — the same lawyer that Business Insider has interviewed — to determine whether the communication violated her franchiser-franchisee contract with Subway. That's when the messages were extracted from her phone.

The woman reported the communications to Subway, her attorney says. Subway determined that no violations occurred, however, due to the fact that Fogle was not an employee of Subway — even though he was hired to do marketing for the brand. The woman also contacted Subway's corporate office regarding the issue and she requested that Subway allow her to remove all marketing related to Fogle from her store, according to the lawyer. She met with two levels of management, shared the messages with them, "and specifically requested not to have his imagery and merchandising related to him in her stores," the lawyer said. "She also specifically warned them that he should not be interacting with young people."

Subway continued to use Fogle in national advertising campaigns until the FBI raid on his home earlier this month. When reached for comment, Subway said, "We have no record of this allegation."

aha! so he was a fucking creep. 16 yr old girls? yikes
I bet there is more to his story and I bet there were younger girls?

Subways are owned by private individuals aren't they? But are they all franchises?
Keep that in mind if you plan to boycott them. Wouldn't want to hurt someone's livelihood just because the corporation is to blame.
Not hard for me to boycott. I haven't been to one in about 5 years and won't return because I hate their food.
Got sick of their cheap meats, crappy ingredients and stale bread.

    Olive Garden? Nooooooooooooo!
I know someone who used to work there. Everything comes in pre-measured plastic bags and a lot of it is frozen. Their salt and fat contents are through the roof. They are literally killing people. Go to their website and look up the fat content. You will be shocked!

And I always loved this Olive Garden parody from Mad TV, it would be funnier if it wasn't so true :D

Jared Fogle: Subway Review Finds "Serious" Complaint About Former Pitchman

The Subway restaurant chain said Friday it received a "serious" complaint about Jared Fogle when he was the company's spokesman but that the complaint did not imply any criminal sexual activity.

The company announced in a statement that it has completed an internal investigation into whether it was alerted to concerns about Fogle, who agreed last month to plead guilty to allegations he paid for sex acts with girls as young as 16 and had received child pornography. The company has severed its ties to him.

Subway's investigation included a review of more than a million online comments and interviews with past and present employees and managers with both the company and an advertising fund, the statement said.

Subway spokeswoman Kristen McMahon said the company received the "serious" complaint in 2011 from former Florida journalist Rochelle Herman-Walrond, who says she worked with the FBI to record Fogle expressing interest in sex with minors. The company's statement said that while the complaint "expressed concerns about Mr. Fogle," it included "nothing that implied anything about sexual behavior or criminal activity involving Mr. Fogle." McMahon would not elaborate on the nature of the complaint.

Nevertheless, the company said it regrets the complaint was "not properly escalated or acted upon," according to the statement.

"It is important to note that the investigation found no further evidence of any other complaints of any kind regarding Mr. Fogle that were submitted to or shared with SUBWAY," the statement said.

Telephone calls by The Associated Press to Herman-Walrond seeking comment on Subway's statement were not immediately returned Friday night. Fogle's lawyers also did not respond to requests for comment.

It's unclear how Herman-Walrond knew Fogle, who lives in suburban Indianapolis. Authorities in Indiana would not say whether she was part of their investigation into him. But Fogle's plea agreement mentions that witnesses in Florida, Georgia and Washington state provided recordings and information it says show Fogle "repeatedly discussed with them his interest in engaging in commercial sex acts with minors or stated that he has done so in the past."
