    ------------------

    “Youth for Human Rights”
(A Special Report Compiled By Anonymous)

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY
On its website, http://www.youthforhumanrights.org/, YHR International states:
"Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is an independent non-profit corporation headquartered in Los Angeles, with the purpose to educate people in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights so they become valuable advocates for tolerance and peace."

    1. YHR International (YHRI) was founded by Scientologist and current YHRI President, Mary Shuttleworth, and the Church of Scientology International.
Source: The Church of Scientology International brochure entitled "Making Human Rights a Reality", published under the banner "Scientology - Effective Solutions" (http://freedom.org.il/english/LA/issue07/page15.htm), at page 12. (Note that the YHRI website does not mention the Church of Scientology International's founding role, nor Ms Shuttleworth's connection with the Church. http://www.youthforhumanrights.org/about/meetpres.html)

    2. The YHRI Executive Director, Tim Bowles, is a Scientologist.
He has attained the status of OTVIII (currently the highest rank), is a Commissioner of the Scientology organisation Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (the object of which is the removal of psychiatry and psychology from the mental health field), is a member of the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises (WISE), was a Founding Patron of the Church of Scientology International, was general legal counsel to the Church of Scientology for eight years and has represented the Church of Scientology in legal matters (including as one of the lead attorneys in Church of Scientology International v. Fishman and Geertz , in which Mr Fishman gave evidence that he had committed crimes on behalf of the Church of Scientology and had been instructed to murder his psychologist, Dr. Uwe Geertz, and then commit suicide) .

    3. The YHRI promotes Scientologists.
The promotion of L Ron Hubbard as a human rights advocate at the 2007 Sydney event (see below) caused considerable dismay. A glance at the YHR website shows that it also promotes artists who are scientologists. For example, a music video project to combat human trafficking involved five artists. All five are scientologists.

    4. The Church of Scientology International treats YHRI's accomplishments as its own.
Addressing a 2004 gathering of the International Association of Scientologists, Mike Rinder, then a director of the Church of Scientology International and Executive Director of the Church of Scientology International's Office of Special Affairs, make the following speech, viewable on Youtube, accompanied by a display of YHR footage. (Note: LRH = L Ron Hubbard; LRH Tech = the writings, training and policies of L Ron Hubbard; ie. the essence of Scientology).

"When you bring LRH Tech to leaders of society the impact is commensurate with the numbers they influence. That's why last year we launched a program to deliver LRH answers right to the opinion leaders and elected officials of Europe. We placed a series of booklets in their hands covering our effective solutions; one each month. Each covered a different subject, the very substance of all we are and do. From our ABLE social betterment programs to our church and community activities. In all, 550 000 have been distributed throughout Europe since the campaign began.

"Of course, our effective solutions include our international human rights program, because where fundamental rights do not exist, man cannot go free. We've continued our events, conferences and hand-to-hand distribution, reaching no less than 131 million worldwide this year, and our efforts have been relentless across four continents. Just since June, we took our "Youth for Human Rights" crusade right into the UN General Assembly chambers. UN officials then helped launch the 2004 youth summit in the international headquarters of the UN Education Fund.

"In Los Angeles, on the steps of city hall, we brought city council members, congressmen and the chairman of the city's Human Rights Commission together to witness the mayor proclaim International Youth for Human Rights Day. While, to further raise public awareness, we placed our human rights messages on radio and tv stations from Canada to Pakistan. And for the next step, our Youth for Human Rights coalition presented their first ever human rights music video, entitled "United", soon to be seen world over in public schools and on television.

"But, as a final measure of our leadership role, we now sit as official delegates on the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the OSCE, expressly established to create a human rights framework for the continent. And when we proposed the formation of a new watchdog, to investigate governments that violate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it was ratified and adopted as official policy of the OSCE. And that means now, for the first time, religious freedom rights are enforceable in all European nations, and that's a continental leap in making human rights a fact."

    Sources: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhZ-kY50J50
    http://www.scientology.org/news-media/biographies/rinder.html

    In contrast:

In early 2007 a YHR event at the Parliament of the state of New South Wales, Australia caused considerable dismay by its prominent promotion of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology. At the time, the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper reported that the Church of Scientology was a "major sponsor" of YHR and quoted YHR spokesman, Nigel Mannock:

"If there was a photograph of L. Ron Hubbard on the material it was because of what he said about human rights," Mr Mannock said.

"We do get support from the Church of Scientology, among other people, and a number of people who happen to be Scientologists are in it.

"It is not a Scientology organisation. We think L. Ron Hubbard was a good supporter of human rights."

Watching the videos makes me realize: Anon is the only thing fucked up enough to take Scientology down. Really, if we don't stop them, no one else will. Mostly because the general public knows nothing about what this "Church" really is. D:<

Re: FACT SHEET - A Documented History of Scientology

This is awesome stuff, but I can't help thinking that a well-maintained wiki* would be the best way to collate the information that would make the next version of this fact sheet.

For Section 12, Germany, I would recommend the following:

Clash of the Titans, George magazine, Russ Baker, April 1997
The Big Bluff, Stern magazine, June 29, 2000

The second article details the very interesting case of Antje Victore. The tl;dr version: German Scientologist applies to the US for "asylum" claiming she's discriminated against in Germany and presents letters from German business owners claiming "I can't hire you because you're a Scientologist" as part of her bid. After she became the first German citizen to receive asylum in the US it turns out the whole thing was a fraud: all of those letters came from business owners who were themselves Scilons, who were told to write her letters of rejection as if she had applied to them for work, which she hadn't. She was really trying to get away from massive tax problems and OSA which helped engineer the hoax was trying to get her where she couldn't be called as a witness against her former boss.

    * Wikipedia isn't well-maintained; it gives far too much leeway to posters whose only goal is to whitewash all Scientology articles.

It can't possibly be that after all this we've just now found the freaking MOTHERLOAD of information on the cult of Scientology.

I included Rick Ross in my short video on the OG, and yet somehow completely missed this page, which contains HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of articles on the subject of this thread.

Turns out we haven't done all that, after all.

The heavy lifting was already done. I give you the master list on Scientology

Truly an amazing amount of work must have gone to this, and the professional approach is very important, since it so detailed and backed up with sources as it is. Any self respecting media outlet should check out this info before writing their articles! Source material ftw!

If you want some Danish press on scientology, here is a small collection, this is from just one major newspaper:

jp.dk - Arkiv - Scientology school loses govornment subidiaries after 4 years of control and is subsequently closed, due the quality of the education being substandard in several fields.

    jp.dk - Arkiv
Scientology is once again denied status as a religion. Politicians from all sides of the political spectrum agreed that there was no reason to consider scientology a religion. Bonuses from the article used about scientology: "The business", "brainwash" and "highly suspicius"

jp.dk - Arkiv Narconon described as dangerous and exploititative

jp.dk - Arkiv Scientologys exhibit against psychiatry described as Manipulative, hurtful and wrong.

The heavy lifting has been going on for years, but that does not diminish your accomplishment! The fact that all of you did the research and got it here (nicely organized, btw) reinforces to readers that this isn't just a bunch of internet whispers. More than once I've been brushed off with the attitude that if it's on the internet it is immediately suspect. Over time I simply got a few easy to find books to point people toward, wondering sadly if it's in a paperback does that make it irrefutable? I know that even buried reports or first-hand accounts are not unshakable, but when things are amassed like this, and documented by different sources, well, good job, thank you and yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I'll be reading for a while.
