Indeed. I feel that if we were pushed as far as the people of Egypt have been, then we could rise up as they did. In fact, considering our capriciousness, we'd probably rise up sooner.

Hopefully this thread won't be derailed by an irrelevant debate about the unprovable.

Not looking to derail. Just making a comment on about a comment. What is going on in Egypt right now is amazing, a little frightening and very important. Hopefully everything turns out alright for them.

A colleague of mine is from Jordon, she is a lawyer and she said basically the same thing. She finds its uncanny that American's don't realize how free they are. She tells tales of buying regular woman's magazine and it was normal to see pages either blacked out or missing.
  6. Yes, I'm sure everything will turn out alright for

This movement should be well focused on and supported by all people across the globe. Anon or not!

That sucks. It really clarifies the statement "freedom isn't free."

    According to folks in the [Tea Party], we've already been pushed that far and farther;
and its long past overdue for Americans to rise up against their oppressors.

While some Americans may disagree, its easy to argue they are the minority in cahoots with a corrupt federal government.
    (liek Mubarak and his frends)

/r/ this derail get moved to its own thread, if possible.
    Interesting topic, but unrelated imo.

CAIRO – Would-be looters broke into Cairo's famed Egyptian Museum, ripping the heads off two mummies and damaging about 10 small artifacts before being caught and detained by army soldiers, Egypt's antiquities chief said Saturday.

0/10 - <sarcasm> We obviously have Tea Party people in the US out there shooting at police/military and getting shot at by police/military. </sarcasm>

/r/ this be ignored and let comments stand as they are now because they actually do pertain to the discussion at hand. Some trolls/commies/libtards/anarchist/emo teenage faggots might not like the whole idea that other countries could actually learn from the US regarding constitutional republics/democracy but that doesn't change the fact that they could.

P.S. Bush was right about creating a democracy in the Middle-East and creating a domino effect of other countries not wanting to be ass raped by elite ruling class.

Normally I do oppose capital punishment,
but sentencing these guys to mummification would be pretty awesome.

Suppose I spout a bunch of nasty stuff about the current US president: I am far more likely to get balleeted or neo-domed by WWP mods than I am to be censored by the US federal authorities.

Honestly , in the US, we can say whatever crazy shit comes to our heads and no one will ever try to stop you (except Miranda) the victory conditions for anon USA are simple: hold the line.
    Elsewhere, we got issues.

    Awesome!
so Bush can take credit for Tunisia and Egypt?

Damn Assange & Anonymous for riding on his coattails....

    Damn straight.

I would also like to sell you a bridge. Please PM your info.
  18. Anonymous Member

But Al Gore invented the Internet. This was his plan all along.

I can understand hungry people looting the museum but not the vandalism of antiquities nor the rape. That sounds like bullshit to justify marshal law. And really, the rape bit is over-kill (who got raped, the mummies?). Probably just a detail for the sake of the American/European TV viewers.

Added: Ok subgenius I see the "rape" was not from the article but from something else you quoted. Confused me!

I have a friend who can't even contact their family in Egypt. They don't know if their family is even alive. Action must be taken.

Would that be why he has been propping up the Egyptian dictator for like ever?
  22. Anonymous Member

Absolutely. Along with Mr. Clinton and Obama to certain extent. Oh and Bush part I and Reagan. And that great humanitarian Carter and Ford and Nixon. Don't forget Johnson and Kennedy.

BTW the bidding on the bridge is going splendidly. I'm at $50.

<WHINE> The US has been propping up dictators in the Middle East </WHINE>

Just maybe, maybe mind you, that is because Egypt has been a nuclear power almost as long as Israel.

    http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~db=all~content=a770372015

And while they weren't the most pleasant regime to deal with they had enough sense to not start dropping nukes all over the place as opposed to say Iran.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9zcElqetqk

I know that might piss some people off but what the hell.

While the protest in Egypt are inspiring to see, people should be asking who the fuck is going to have their finger on the trigger.

Don't forget to duck and cover.

I did forget Ike and Truman. Sorry :<

    Unlikely.

Egypt jails two Scientologists March 5, 2002, UPI, Human Rights Without Frontiers (dead link)
Schadenfreude. Government using religion as a club, and CoS lying by implying that New Era Publications isn't part of Scientology.
  31. Whoa. They're starting to sound a lot more like a recent vintage Sinn Fein and less like the IRA. Now let's see if they keep their word.

  33. Yeah, but he was wrong in thinking we could have fuck all to do with it if we want it to work. Had we not spent generations fucking up our foreign policy, the opposite may have been true, but I somehow doubt that. If the people have enough, the people have to make that decision for themselves. Nation building doesn't work unless it is initiated and done by those who will have to live with it long after any occupying forces are gone.
  34. Anonymous Member

Really? What are they going to do? Sentence them to stay in Egypt?
  35. Anonymous Member

$1000 is what I'm at with the bridge. Soon I'm going to feel like LRH.

The idea was to support democracy, the people, in the Middle East and it would spread as people got a taste of freedom. As I recall the haggis of the state department was vocal in their assessments against the idea.

I hope for the best but see the potential for another Iran in 5 years.
