Well, it was probably due to Harper being in DC to address paranoia about terrorist hordes invading from the north.

(Harper only survives on the Liberals' fumbling, devotion to polls, and lack of understanding of the term "self-fulfilling prophecy".)

I'm still digesting the underlying message from U.S. Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, appearing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. Strange for him to go on the furthest left show on US cable and lay out how hundreds of top Egyptian military leaders had their start studying, living and partying with the US armed forces officers during their training here, I'm guessing that was a backdoor signal to the world's elites, "Egypt is still our sphere of influence, fuck off."

I wonder if our Egyptian training program is as wonderful as the School of the Americas used to be?

Looks like the protest has become more peaceful again.

Yeap, there is a lot of talk about how to get Mubarak to step down.

  20. Silly433 Moderator

On other news, Mubarak's family fortune has been estimated in around 70 billion.

Related trivia but good to know.
    All found right here.

Military ties help U.S. influence Egypt subtly
    Tl;dr
US mil’s good relations w/ Egypt’s mil (about $1B a year) help because US officers have acted as mentors and at least have “ability to get Cairo’s top defense officials on the phone.”
Also, 30 years of working together has given the Egypt’s military “a degree of discipline and professionalism by the Egyptian army that has helped keep its soldiers from attacking protesters seeking to topple President Hosni Mubarak.”
These ties are important because only Egypt has a treaty with Israel and since 1952 Egypt has gotten all it’s presidents from the military. Including Mubarak, he was an air force pilot.

These other titles are pretty much self-explanatory and repeat a lot of the same information.

Mullen: Alert status not raised over Egypt

Egypt is key U.S. counterterrorism partner

Egypt a military partner in safeguarding region

    Soooooo....
As long as the Egyptian military supports the people our military will support the people. or so I hope.

Wise crowd is wise. All depends on them holding their ground.

My hat goes off to the brave Egyptians. Wish I could have half their strength.

Really, 37 and such a solid grasp on the world? Amazing.

The display of the bottom of ones shoe is a pretty heavy insult in that part of the world.
