    LRH Library for sale

[mod]This auction goes back up every few weeks (surprise, it's not selling!), and each time someone else finds it for the first time and posts about it. For the love of god, please use the search function. This is now the dumping grounds for all of those threads, and a place to shame those that cannot search.[/mod]
Did not find a thread on the subject, so here it is:

    Anyone has $ 3.5 million ?

    Re: LRH Library for sale

    Lolz.

This is a fund raising drive BY the COS - they are very short of cash at the moment, and 3.5 million would boost Davey's running away fund.

    120 x Orgs times 3.5 million - lotsa jewgolds

I was just thinking the same thing, Davey's private stash up for sale. He just needs a little travelin' cash is all.

    L. Ron Hubbard - Scientology & Dianetics Library
World’s Largest Private Collection of Authentic LRH

    Scientology & Dianetics Library

28,426 Scientology and Dianetics lectures, bulletins, coursepacks, checksheets, books, periodicals, and many other publications.

The Library contains virtually every major title ever sold to the public. What is more, the Library holds hundreds of hours of recorded lectures and thousands of pages of written materials that have not been seen by the public for decades or have never been seen by the public. Many predate the Church of Scientology’s 1954 incorporation.

The Library’s emphasis is L. Ron Hubbard’s technical materials that were released during his lifetime in their original, unaltered form. These are, principally, lectures on reel-to-reel tapes, written technology on mimeographed pages, and other first edition publications.

Integral to the Library is its computerized database of all 28,426 items, complete with titles, dates of publication, index of each item’s physical location in the file drawers, and many more data.

This is not a haphazard mixture of random books and tapes or bootlegged downloads of the usual items. This is a bona fide Library of highly-organized, legally-acquired materials that were specifically sought out over a quarter-century. It is a Library of authentic LRH recordings and writings much greater than what is obtainable through the church, and factually containing millions of words on audiotape and in print that do not exist in the field, on the Internet, or anywhere else in the world except, perhaps, in church vaults.

    Statistics

Recorded Lectures: 8,349; netting 2,120 titles

Written Issues: 57,862 pages of mimeographed HCO Bulletins, Policy Letters, and other issues in their original form; netting 14,574 titles

    Books and Other Publications: 1,467

    Packs: 886

    Checksheets: 739

    Periodicals: 3,141

    Transcripts: 1,880 lecture titles

    Payment and Shipping

Method of payment to be arranged.

The Library may be picked up or shipped anywhere in the world at actual shipping costs with no markup or handling charges. Please note: As shipping costs vary, depending on the method and destination, the domestic and international shipping costs given in this listing are approximations.

Shit is bananas, yo. Someone pointed out it'd be interesting if a university nabbed these up, but studying cults hasn't been a priority in sociology departments since (oddly enough) Scientology and CAN. If Scientology buys them just to destroy them that's at least $3.5m less for Scientology, which isn't too bad.
  16. Re: Ebay: L. Ron Hubbard - Scientology & Dianetics Library

They should come up with a better photo if they expect someone to pay $3.5 Million. Can't they at least push the chair out of the way?

I would not mind owning a bust of LRH. It would look good alongside my bust of Lenin. Birds of a feather, etc.

/r/ negative reviews. A LOT of them.

6 offers already. Those poor souls. I'd offer the lint in my pocket for it because I'm low on firewood at home, but that price, ick. Price gouging, much?

There were six "offers," all declined. My guess is that they were all less than one buck.

Could it be Council of European Churches??? Surely some christian churches might have kept an eye on LRH and cult?? Maybe even German officials pooled LRH writings?

    Re: Ebay - LRH Library

It almost has to be someone who was in the church. Who else would be able to get copies of 14,574 letters and bulletins? Either that or he had some very useful inside leaks.

How about the Clear Expansion Committee?

  37. $3.5 million for Scientology and Dianetics collection?!

That's right folks, 3½ million dollars. Plus $5,000 post and packing.

Wouldn't it be terrible if he got loads of offers from anons for 50 cents? ("I think you'll find this is a more accurate valuation of Hubbard's material")

re: Complete Hubbard library on eBay

I think it's been on before, but obviously not going to sell easily at that sort of price.

The question, however, that crosses my mind is if someone has spent all that time and effort accumulating the stuff, why sell it?

Why not simply "donate" it to Scientology? Or is the money more important than a massive collection containing some previously unreleased or unavailable stuff which the cult itself might not have?

After all, since they're planning on opening another LRH Museum near Gold Base, I'd have thought this would have been a perfect donation to that.

Or is there some more nefarious purpose to all this?

Perhaps they are trying to get some of their money back that they blew on the garbage.
