It was actually hacked. If you remember the site had a week of downtime, because a couple admins used the same password here as they did on enturb. And people had those passwords from when enturb was hacked.

Same thing happened to sci-ex.

IIRC, when enturb died, emails were sent to addresses that must have been gathered from the db, but only people who had registered at enturb mid-May or earlier received them. Is there much evidence pointing towards this list being a lot more recent? I missed the list, so I can't cross-reference.
