Cult Dry Cleaning? Harpoons?

Of course they must live in LA, Smurf, because they really seem to want to secure an angle that might thwart their endeavor. Let the obviously locals there have a thread to hash it out to see if there is a method to do it. I don't live/work there, but if a cult dry cleaner was opening up on the corner where I live, I'd say no. They filed papers on the merit of honestly filled out forms regarding pollution and toxic exposure history. No. Fuck that.

Thank you! Well, I know what the first step is. Writing to city hall and the air quality management people. They seem to be receptive to hearing what people have to say.
  3. Anonymous Member

Or what a thousand people have to say.
  4. Anonymous Member

A thousand people who aren't allowed to vote?

You'd have to prove to me that there's a thousand. Not by what I see on LWrongHubbard way.

    Lol dry cleaning.

    Lol Herro.

    Lol combo.

So where are these thousand people? Do they bus them in from other places?

The comment I responded to.. "Sorry. It's not convenient for me to have my air polluted"... was very funny because Los Angeles rates #2 as the most polluted U.S. city by particle pollution. http://www.citymayors.com/environment/polluted_uscities.html

If the OP is concerned about the inconvenience of air pollution, he needs to move outside of L.A.
  12. Anonymous Member

What if it's not convenient for him to move? Like he'd have to give up his job or something.

    Two days left.

Put thinking cap on. Suck it up and live with the pollution? It is not going to go away anytime soon.

You have no reason to think that a Scientologist dry cleaner is any more of a threat to the environment than any other dry cleaner.

OP here. I live very far from LA. Caring is not restricted it dwelling locale. Bitch.
  19. Anonymous Member

    Ooh. I think I'm in love. :)
  20. Smurf Member

Umm..re-read my post. I posted the link.
  21. Smurf Member

Neither is living in the real world. Bitch.

One day left. If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would ever get done at all. :D

Go with your gut, I guess. When I walk up Runyon Canyon and see the clearly observant orange-brown band of haze hanging over the city skyline, I know the smog is bad here.
  25. Anonymous Member

It's not the same in all parts of town though. Haze hanging over the skyline, that's like downtown, where all the emission-spewing cars and congestion are.
  26. Anonymous Member

Hm. If you can see it over there, then it would seem that the air is clear enough where you are to allow that kind of visibility.
  27. Anonymous Member

I mean a thousand of us pooning.
  28. Anonymous Member

    Well now, that's different, isn't it. :)
  29. Anonymous Member

Right, I'm saying that if enough people showed they cared, then it could make a difference. Excluding Smurf, of course.

    Bullet points:

Cult lies on documents since forever.

Cult fills out official forms stating history on pollution and toxic exposure incidents.

Cult opens business based on that lol.
  30. Anonymous Member

Smurf, I know just on the basis of an extra 11 pounds of toxic shit it your air, you wouldn't waste a flinch. Point taken.
  31. Anonymous Member

Yeah but do we know for sure that it's going to be limited to 11 pounds?
  32. Smurf Member

Bawwww.... we all pick our battles. It's not my fault you've chosen to pursue the losing one.
  33. Anonymous Member

If you re-read the OP, you'll see we've already won.
  34. Smurf Member

Hardly. It's typical of any city or county agency to provide the community an opportunity to clue in with their opinions before a permit is granted, which is why the OP links to a "Notice of Intent". It's simply an exercise of bureaucratic policy. I'm sure the cult was busy purchasing equipment for their dry cleaning operation while you were pooning whomever.

You took on a battle you had no chance of winning. On the other hand, you are to be commended for speaking out on a community issue that concerned you.

I am absolutely opposed to the closing down of the 405 freeway this weekend.. which is being labelled "Carmageddon'. Politicians have said the fiasco will be so bad, that they're encouraging everyone in SoCal not to drive at all for the weekend. I can bitch & holler with thousands of other people, but what chance do you think I'd have with the powers that be?

It's not like that activity is being run by a lying, polluting cult though, is it.
  36. Smurf Member

The Scilons are entitled to dry cleaning like anyone else in Los Angeles.

When dealing with Scientology, even dry cleaning is being seen as a criminal activity.

    I love this forum.

And there are plenty of places where they can get it already.
  39. Anonymous Member

When a criminal organization is doing it -- voila! Criminal activity.
  40. Smurf Member

In other words, if a bunch of Scilons are taking a dump, then voila! Shitting is criminal activity. You're pretty smart.
