Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Would be nice to have. Stone makes the minimal move possible.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 ITT: San Jacinto deploys an IRL inb4 My approval - They have it.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Council doesn't support closing Gilman Springs Road | Riverside County | PE.com | Southern California News | News for Inland Southern California Samuel Alhadeff, an attorney representing the church, told the council experts have been hired to analyze issues related to the road and, in a letter, anticipated a road vacation application could be filed soon.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Clear away flowers, make dirt sidewalk (expense of paved sidewalk not justified by little usage), take the underground tunnels as eminent domain and turn them into public use underpasses. Install underground gates on both sides to maintain compound security. Use Decks and RPF labor. Problem solved. :-P Of course, that's what the CoS would have done if they were really concerned with road safety, rather than elongating the escape route for their inmates and getting rid of protesters.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 so... uhm... whats the conclusion here? did the meeting take place already? *read's Fitch's post* oh they did oppose it. yay someone update the OP
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 YES!! Their bullying and lies are not working like they used to SO glad they asked to have the road closed, because it did nothing more them make them look STUPID with their lies about safety. Especially for the wonderful fact that they pissed off local residents and businesses.
Authorities oppose closing the Gold Base road Looks like the folks at Gilman Springs have grown a pair: Council doesn't support closing Gilman Springs Road | Riverside County | PE.com | Southern California News | News for Inland Southern California
Re: Authorities oppose closing the Gold Base road This is good: Local residents and tribe get kudos for being educated and informed on what is happening in their town.

Re: Authorities oppose closing the Gold Base road Gilman Hot Springs is (iirc) an unincorporated region just north of the city of San Jacinto. San Jacinto voted yesterday to oppose closure of this stretch of road- which lies outside their jurisdiction, but which affects business within their jurisdiction. Folks who live on Gilman Springs Road, west of the Cult - aren't really constituents of the SJ city council, but presumably do a lot of business there. Their 'local' elected official, sadly is Jeff Stone (Or U.S. Representative Jerry Lewis). Glad to see San Jacinto at least showing signs of giving-a-shit, where NIMBY might otherwise apply.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Where this becomes of concern to San Jacinto (apart from the obvious) is that any future alternative route would ultimately have to encroach into San Jacinto city limits and what was purely a county/state concern suddenly becomes theirs. At the end of the day the cult is going to have to pay for an alternative before any road could be considered for closure but, bearing in mind all the planning rigmarole and objections etc, it is not going to be a quick fix. It would take years (it's already taken years for them to get nowhere with it). The cult could simply wait for the existing Riverside County highway improvements plan to give them an advantage. Sadly for the cult, that plan stretches upto 30 years from now so it could be a long wait.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Ok, crap map cobbled from other crap maps, but this should give the general idea:
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 According to the Riverside GIS your map is wrong and city boundaries go UP TO THE RIVER. (it's a minor point, but are you using the fail .svg from wikipedo?)
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 I'm still hoping to see a summary/story of what went on at the meeting last night, outside of just the votes (scilon presence, etc). Im surprised AO (or someone posting for him) hasnt told a tale yet.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Mark was on here and posted. Seems like there was nothing exciting to add. City council proposed meaningless inb4 bill to send a message to Stone.. Obviously they passed their bill. Many interested parties showed up.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Thank you. I'm willing to believe this is fail- but it was the best I could find. http://www.rivcoeda.org/Portals/0/demographicReports/County of Riverside_102008.pdf Is there a URL for your GIS?
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Video of the meeting tl;dw Scientology gets spanked and Scilon lawyer gets owned
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Thanks for the videos. It seems that AO is not on them ?
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 In a video film without mirrors, who don't you see? The guy behind the camera.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Stone won't dare approve the road closure in the face of overwhelming objection if he wants to maintain any semblance of a veil over his allegiance with the CoS. If he approves it, every single resident will KNOW for sure. Also, hoping for a new sign from GoldBase protesters: Road's NOT Closed due to PUBLIC OBJECTION
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 I transcribed a quote from video 7/8 (from 9:00 on) which made me happy that the council was a rational, human one (and not a Jeff Stone, "we are scientology's bitch" sham): From one of the board members/ supervisers: Harhar...safety...noise. Oh the hilarity.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Riverside County Land Information System Interesting.. When I looked at the older thread with TONS of information, your map was correct and those notches were marked as proposed annexation... See here http://forums.whyweprotest.net/249-goldbase/gold-base-property-line-37941/3/#post779446 Now, it totally is irrelevant to this discussion, but I believe it is currently listed up to the river as Riverside limits... Please revisit this thread: http://forums.whyweprotest.net/249-goldbase/gold-base-property-line-37941/post772810/#post772810 For crap tons more info on the road.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 EVERYONE please revisit this comment regarding IMPROPER Caltrans Encroachment Permit Application -- http://forums.whyweprotest.net/249-goldbase/gold-base-property-line-37941/3/#post779424 When and if the cult files an application to vacate the road, PLEASE response to filing with any findings we have on improper encroachment and improper right of way actions in the past. Is it possible the cult -- in addition to wanting a private drive -- is also trying to cover their ass for encroachment? Though I can't see any "real" penalties if they were found to be encroaching..
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 /AO bullshit. If AO's learning, it's win. If he's at least keeping his mouth shut and not causing more damage, it's win. Injecting him into every fucking SoCal thread is epic fail.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 I shot video of the entire 45 minute proceeding including AO's speech. I will be uploading it soon.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 You are welcome in advance.. marklowell99 has not posted any videos as of yet.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Here is my video in 5 parts on YouTube: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. Here is the complete 45 minute video on Vimeo: [ame=http://vimeo.com/6445623]Scientology Generates Political Opposition - San Jacinto CA on Vimeo[/ame] The room was packed, mostly with people who supported expansion of an indian casino. I did not have a tripod nor was there room for it; it was standing room only. 45 minutes of hand held video made it difficult to keep the camera still, especially when zoomed in. Former mayor and council member Ayres was out spoken in his opposition to the road closure and vacating the county land. Scientology's attorney Samuel Alhaldeff, who has previously worked to suppress free speech in Riverside County, tried to stop the council from passing the resolution. All residents who spoke were opposed to the road closure and supported the resolution.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Aldaheff talked about a letter he submitted at about 7:00. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a copy of that?
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 AO starts at about 6:30 within this segment: His introductory comments that the road closure is an attempt to limit protests, are redirected at about 8:05 to discussions more specifically about the road. AO then rebuts the main point about the "safety" argument for closing the road from the public, by explaining that the 100-foot-wide public "easement" for that road has been "encroached" upon by Scientology construction (including a center island and curbs, which narrow that section of road). AO encourages the City to have the road is widened with either asphalt or dirt, to the edges of that 100-foot width (including relocating the guard shack at the entrance to Gold Base), and to consider having the road expanded to 4 lanes, to enhance its safety.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 This video from another thread about AGP shows just how much heavy traffic goes down that road. It was almost non stop... [/QUOTE]
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 FFFFFUUUUUU--- why does AO failfuck open his fat pie hole. What a psychopath... A council meeting on ROAD CLOSURE and asshole rants about himself.. His arrest. How hard is it to just mention relevant facts.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Alhadef is not a very compelling speaker. It would have helped if he had some facts to back up his position. How could he reasonably explain where there is any precedent or logic involved in closing a road because too many people use it? He couldn't. They fabricated the "safety" reason and it doesn't make sense. They've hired the expert consultants to try and add some weight to their safety argument. Where has scientology ever demonstrated an interest in public safety? Of course, they can't say the real reason they want the road closed because it would make them look like the paranoid, insular, self-entitled jack-offs they really are. It's great to hear that widening the road to four lanes is part of the county master plan. Good on AO for showing up, speaking and outlining the true motive for trying to close that road. If any of you keyboard quarterbacks have something better to say, show up and make your own speech, write a letter or shut up.
Re: City council votes on closure of Gold Base Road Sept 3 Why wouldn't they be able to widen the road to four lanes? There's this thing called 'eminent domain.' That means that land can be taken for projects in the public's interest. Roads, parks, other things that benefit a community are things that can activate eminent domain. The cult would hate to lose that footage, but DM could stamp his wee foot all he wants and it wouldn't do any good. The county gets what it wants. I'd love to see that land taken for a wider road. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when DM gets the word that the land was going to be taken.
