Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road They never stop. They just look for a different way to come at it. remember this is scientology. Anything they decide to do is good because they decided to do it.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Another route has to be made BEFORE this gets closed. We have time to plan before that alternate route even gets mapped out. Any good ways to let the people in the area that will be affected...please post. But with the economy the way it is....building a road that isn't needed seems to be far in the future.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Aka get ready to donate, Donate, DONATEEEEEEEE!!!!
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Actually, I think (may be wrong) that illegally placed items in the public right-of-way can be removed by citizens in CA?
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Looking at a map, it looks like the Scienos would want the road (79) closed between Lamb's Canyon Road on the west and Soboba Road on the south. Lamb's Canyon is the road that goes from Hemet to I-10. I believe Soboba goes out to the tribal casino. What this would do is force traffic down to the Ramona Expressway. This would impact drivers coming from Lamb's Canyon Road to the several hundred homes between Soboba Rd. and Ramona Expressway, as well as anyone trying to get to Soboba Rd. itself, along with the students, faculty and staff going to Mt. San Jacinto Community College coming via Lamb's Canyon. If the road were closed, its very likely that the drivers, in an attempt to cut the distance, would take Record Road (a two lane road running next to farm property) or Blodgett St. The latter road does not go to 79/State St. in San Jacinto, and that could force travelers into the subdivision south of Blodgett St. These are all groups that are going to be impacted. Additionally, the Ramona Expressway/State St. (79) intersection would be impacted by all the cars needing to make left turns. These are the impacts I can see: 1. Anyone trying to get to/from Soboba Rd. from Lamb's Canyon (I-10)via 79. 2 . Anyone trying to get into/leave the subdivisions between Soboba Rd. and the Ramona Expressway/State St. intersection via Lamb's Canyon. 3. Ditto for anyone trying to get into the Mt. San Jacinto Community College from Lamb's Canyon via 79. 4. Traffic at the State St./Ramona Expressway intersection would greatly increase, particularly for left turns going north on State St. to the community college, Soboba Rd. and the subdivisions. Other impacts: possible response times for fire/police, forces traffic onto roads that are not prepared for it (Record Rd.)into subdivisions that should not see this amount of traffic, the intersection of Ramona Expressway and State St. Do we know how many vehicles travel on 79 between Lamb's Canyon and Ramona Expressway? One place to count would be at the intersection of Soboba Rd. and 79 catty-corner from the cult's golf course. I would suggest that Anonymous get the numbers together (car traffic, may be available from State Dept. of transportation or the county), take a look at the intersection of Ramona Expy. and State St. and think about flyering the neighbors in the subdivisions. I don't know if we have an Anon who goes to Mt. San Jacinto but there might be a way to get flyers posted on bulletin boards at the college. And attending the San Jacinto city council meetings along with the Riverside board meetings are key. San Jacinto to rally the locals and Riverside to get into Stone's face for being Scn's waterboy. I'm personally considering going over to 79 from Phx (5 hours, straight trip) and driving back and forth to get a better idea of the traffic, etc. I would also like to note that this was a heavily-traveled highway back in 2001, the last time I was there. I can't imagine what it's like now. pfffth CULT. Expecting people to pay to close a public highway, when we're all financially strapped is simply nuts.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Thought I'd also add that while I'm not sure what kind of RAEG you'd bring down upon yourself if you attempted to remove the video camera from the right-of-way, I know of some temporarily successful efforts to block speed cameras here in the Phoenix area. One tactic was to put a Post-It note over the lenses of the cameras. Another action was carried out by Santa's Elves in Tempe last December. The plucky Elves brought ladders and wrapped boxes (with the bottoms conveniently taken out) to an intersection and then proceeded to install the boxes over the speed cameras. Santa's Elves then left. The advantage of doing these things is that they do not permanently block the view of the cameras, but they annoy the $$$%$!!!$$$ out of the Scienos who have to go out and remove the boxes/Post-It notes. And it avoids having evul kult arguing with the cops about how their property was damaged. Also, contacting whatever state/county department handles the right-of-ways in California and finding out what can be done about unauthorized items in the right-of-way may be the best way to deal with this. For all we know, the appropriate agency might just decide to take those video cameras out on its own. evul cult is evil.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Between the Ramona Expressway and Gilman Springs Road, the routing for Route 79 was changed in July 2002. The original routing ran along Gilman Spring Road and State Street between Ramona Expressway and the Gilman Spring Road/Sanderson Road junction. This was an aging conventional highway with predominantly non-standard shoulders, non-standard horizontal and vertical curves, and an accident rate more than double similar state freeways. In 2002, this routing was relinquished in lieu of a new routing along Ramona Expressway and Sanderson Avenue. This new highway portion has a grade separated interchange and has recently been widened. The claim is that the new routing, in addition to being a better road, allows the property owners on the original routing to preseve the rural character of their area, while reducing vehicle speeds. The background and proposal do not note the rumor that the original routing was a problem for the Church of Scientology, as the Gilman Springs routing runs through the Golden Era Studio operated by the Church. This rerouting was addressed by the CTC in July 2002, when it defined a new routing that ran from 08-Riv-79 PM 29.9/R33.9 in the City of San Jacinto, and PM 29.9 to PM 13.2 in the County of Riverside, and relinquished the segments from from PM 29.9 to 30.9, and from PM 30.5 to 33.4 California Highways (www.cahighways.org): Routes 73 through 80
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road If they can put up such cameras in the right of way, why can't we?
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road I don't know if it has anything to do with this or not but there was a thread started about them trying to shut down the road (something to do with a shopping mall) last January. http://forums.whyweprotest.net/249-goldbase/scientolgy-gold-base-news-37750/ Somebody signed on to say:
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Yeah, let's put up a webcam in front of Gold Base. Then we can observe them 24/7 and if anyone of the prisoners escapes we can have a rescue team ready to pick him up.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Fuck them. Again with this crap. Asking for a major highway to be closed for stupid reasons, only makes them look like they want to hide more. I really hope that the dopey officals see this too. COS endangered people's lives, with sprinklers, and lighting off flares. They planted on property that wasn't theirs, and yet they have the nerve to say it isn't safe? Fraser should have said it isn't safe because we make it that way. Stone is cozy witht he cult, but if he ok's this fiasco, then he may as well get a job at the local supermarket. Paper or plastic bitch? Can you just imagine the horrific shit that will go on at Gold if this should happen? Or I should say MORE horrific shit. What yah hidin' Scientology? That's what people in that district should be asking. Someone needs to put a video up about this. and call it WHAT IS SCIENTOLOGY HIDING AT GOLD BASE? AND include the illegal grading.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road The $cilons are correct that the road is dangerous. It is unquestionably dangerous. The existing road should be widened and straightened. Using Eminent Domain, the county should enlarge the current existing easement by 50-80+ feet on each side. The current road should be improved and upgraded to 2 lanes in each direction, center island, provision for pedestrian/bicycle traffic on each side, adequate shoulder on each side and a turn-out parking area for safety. Of course, the new easement should be large enough to accomodate 3 lanes in each direction should future traffic conditions dictate such enlargement. The location where, recently, a peaceful male protester was brutally beaten and a peaceful female protester was physically assaulted by CULT staff thugs would make a wonderful turn-out parking area.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road $750 million (allegedly) in the coffer, no Super Powaz building for 12 years, IAS members gettin all pissy about where the moneyz going....... HEY LET'S SPEND MILLIONS TO BUILD A NEW ROAD SO WE CAN CLEAR THE PLANET!!!
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Idiots. Its a perfectly good road, with no other alternataive routes in place. WTF are these idiots thinking? This is going to end up being a giant foot-bullet in the long run......startin' nao. Silly scilons, guess what? The rules for land usage actually apply to you too.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road crap now i have to bring this up Thanks belladonna you sexy mofo
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road All you good folk who actually live in the area, keep on checking up on the usage laws, EPA, survey studies, etc. etc., you know the cult ain't doing it right, they never have, they never will. My opinion.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Cult funded studies should be questioned and looked at critically by independent parties.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road "Right of way" is shorthand. You should really get the idea of what rights, and who has, etc. before proposing such. Basically, the right of way is that people have rights to go thata way and not be blocked by fences and other barriers put up by adjoining landowners. The "rights" don't extend to people wanting to USE the 'right of way' much beyond travelling through.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road There's been much discussion on this before. There is isn't any room for an alternative road far enough away from Gold Base that would satisfy DM and wouldn't require massive expense (if it were feasible at all) as well as being able to placate the other communities which Gilman Springs Rd currently services with the same level of local convenience. On one side if Goldbase you have mountain sides and on the other you have flood plain. The reason why Gilman Springs Rd is where it is, is because there's no other natural place for it to sensibly go. Also, add the fact that there is even room to have it improved, such as widening and other safety measures. Dipshit DM might aswell relocate Goldbase altogether. Afterall, they've got plenty of remote and very private land, complete with an airstrip and an entheta-proof vault. Also: View attachment circlingthewagons.jpg LOL
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Certainly, the 200 acres of Coldbase ain't doing that for him.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road I propose a flyover bridge. Give everyone a good look over the wire. edit: The only potentially dangerous section of that highway I can remember is Gold Base. There's curves there, and the Happy Fun Cult seems to have a habit of doing things like run construction equipment on the road with no lights or even flagmen.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Well theres always Alaska, love to see all that LRon Flubbard 'tech' workin' big winz @ 40% below., but hell, they could puts roads just 'bout anywhere then lolol!
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road The cult should pay to STRAIGHTEN the road.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Wouldn't it be weird if that whole Ramona bypass project was part of a long term scheme to create an alternative route at the taxpayers expense?
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Oh, and what the heck were Catherine Fraser, Danny Dunigan, and Rick Moxon doing just standing there on the side of the road on this particular recent day? Birdwatching?
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road quote: Another camera has been installed on the south end of the complex, which also has a!!!!!! light!!!!!!! pointed at drivers at !!!!!!night!!!!!. is this not illegal
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road The last sentence (albeit a bit faltered) of Ms. Waltz' comments this week... What does she know that we don't?

Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Better yet, what do WE know that she should.
Re: Church officially seeks closure - Gilman Springs Road Perhaps they need reminding that the road does not go through the middle of Gold Base. The road was there long before Gold Base was even thought of. They just happened to build on both sides of the road, that's all. I'm not quite sure what is "unsafe" about the road as far as they're concerned because they have the tunnels under the road to get from one side to the other - and the only dangerous things I can think of regarding the road were of their own making - the AO assault incident, and the accident with the digger being driven at night with no lights by a scientologist along the road. As has been stated, the easiest way to make the road safer is to widen it - as there appears plenty of what is effectively unused land (whether county or scino owned is irrelevant) along both sides of the existing road. Do you have 'compulsory purchase orders' or the equivalent in the UK where the county/state can basically just say "ok we need that land, heres some money, stop whining"?
