Clams got me sick, my lungs are falling out. I suppose I'll see you guys in January. Sorry for bailing twice in a row, especially after spelling out promise with caps and hyphens.

:( This is the first time I've missed a monthly since I joined, and now I'm missing the followup mini. D: D: D:
  4. Re: Chicago, Illinois -- The Windy City Megathread

@ Xero: Sorry to hear you won't be there, but please don't feel like you have to apologize. It's not like you can help being sick, and anyway, nobody should feel sorry for not attending an event for any reason, least of all because they have an actual life and something better to do or they just plain don't feel up to it.

It's looking like it might just be a slushfest with the relatively few passerbys scurrying for cover anyway, so it's not like you're likely to miss something epic.

@ Body: I spammed you with another PM.

@ People going tomorrow: If the weather keeps looking bad, I might ditch the costume idea, go with full waterproof Arctic Expedition gear, and concentrate mostly on signing the road. We'll see...

It was a rainy day and things started off pretty bad. We did see another guy dressed as a banana for Jamba Juice. Then we took a break and we went to state street where things got much better. We handed an insane amount of pamphlets out, people were really accepting of us. There was a black guy who called us newfags and then we talked about how it was weird that we actually found a black guy who goes to 4chan. I also foresee that Body will one day surpass me in dancing. That is all.

Heh, oh. I don't know if it was the same black guy, but one of them came up to my face and went "WHAT THE FUCK YOU DANCIN' LIKE THAT FO.'" Very politely, I said we're protesting against the Church of Scientology. He looked confused, so he walked away.

Where the heck was Arnie. Thought he was joining you guys this raid.

Here are my perceptions about the miniraid really fast -

    First Part
We started off at Millennium for a while. I'm not gonna lie and say this part was epic win, but I thought it went OK, given the circumstances. Unfortunately we can't play music there, and the weather was sleeting and pretty miserable, which was keeping most of the people away. Still there were plenty of cars along Michigan Avenue for honkage and also the occasional group of people cheering us from across the street or whatever. So we did the best we could.

Re: the Jamba Juice advertisers, I don't know if companies are supposed to be allowed to be fliering there if it's something commercial like passing out coupons or promotions. I know for sure you can't solicit directly, and I think advertising like that falls under the solicitation umbrella. I don't care as long as they aren't cramping our style too much, though.

We took a break after a while and went to warm up our numbed fingers and maybe get a bite to eat. This is where we accidentally ran into an anon who was coming out to see us. Unfortunately, we couldn't stick together, as we were taking our break and he couldn't stay for very long.

    Second Part
We went to a part of the city with a lot of foot traffic to get some more direct interaction with people. We got the music going despite the drizzle, danced, and started getting fliers out at a great rate. I thought this part went really well.

All in all, I thought it was very good double-miniraid. The dance moves were hawt, anons showed heart despite the weather, banana didn't afraid of snow and sleet, we made it fun despite the conditions not being ideal, and we got a lot done with just a trio of people.

Edit: I should add, part of the reason I really enjoyed myself is because the people I was alongside are so full of wacky fun that it's almost impossible not to have a good time. Thank you. You guys are awesome.

I want to send a PM to the admin of CSN.forumup.com, but my registration got messed up, and I can't access my account. Can someone fire off a PM to him over there and ask to re-send the confirmation e-mail for my account? Or he can just confirm it by hand, whatever's easiest.

    Thank you!

  26. Re: Chicago, Illinois -- The Windy City Megathread

Your love is not unrequited, bromeo.

Random thought - if there are any new people lurking and thinking of coming this Saturday, I would highly recommend checking back closer to the event when our plans are clearer. My understanding is that a lot of the details for this one are still undecided, and I don't want anyone to miss out on a potential change/tweak of plans and get disappointed.

    The current status:

Most of us appear to be meeting at Millennium Park at noon.

We will do our usual. After a while, we will take a break. At the break, we will decide whether or not it is legal or we are even motivated to go to the org.

i'm inviting all Chi anons to bring their ice skates saturday for some skating at Millennium park. I figured that since it's there, and we're there, we could do it.

  38. Re: Chicago, Illinois -- The Windy City Megathread

That sounds fun. I won't be skating myself, but I'd like to watch you guys.

This is gonna be nuts tomorrow. So much snow today, and then it'll be cold as hell tomorrow. I'll be happy if we can get 2 good hours in at Millennium before everyone freezes. I still hope to be there around noon, barring transportation delays.

    Also, I am:

The snowmen were designed to be standing up, but I found they were too tall, and I couldn't get the top cover closed. Whoops...

    ^ I came snow.

Also, Xero and I should be at Millennium Park around noon.
