Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

    Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Just an idea, in the "Lulz Save" category.

Why not bringing ashtrays when we have to confront Scilons ?
So that, when they come to us and start bullbaiting, we show them ashtrays.
We place them between their faces and ours.
So that they yell at ashtrays.

(I'd like to create an astray-shaped mask, but I'm not DIY enthusiast enough.)

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

    Or an ashtray t-shirt ?
    YELL AT ME
    AND I'LL STAND UP.
    THANK YOU.

But I prefer the simple idea of the real ashtray in front of the yelling face.
Because Scilons may find it a little disturbing.
At least the first time they see it.
  8. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Maybe if various protesters yell their slogans, mottoes & protests @ ashtrays...

    No more bogus stalking charges?

put it on the floor outside the org and ask them to produce an ot8 who can move it with the power of their mind.

I want to plant an ashtray that yells back when it's shouted at....

    Great Idea!

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Yea, why not dress up as a giant ashtray so when the scilons have finished nervously smoking their cigarettes they can stub them out on you (an ashtray), and then yell at you for not being OT8.
Also if hubtoad had not been a smoker, what would they have used instead of ashtrays?
    Any suggestions?
There is a book and bottle drill, so that covers his liking for rum and crappy writings.

And what about making giant ashtrays fly across the street ?
    We could use catapults.

    This is so lolzy.

I await to see a video of failing non-existing OT powers trying to move an ashtray.

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

How about Anons offer free communication course in front of the org?
Set up a little something like their traveling stress test table, bring ashtrays & chairs and proceed from there (the real course- of course! lol).
    Now THAT would be lulzy!

Snickers is the reward staff members get when they have accomplished an extraordinary task, I am told.
Never saw it myself while I was "in" though. Might be due to no extraordinary tasks accomplished.
  22. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

You *do* realize that a third of the drill is yelling, a third is speaking in a normal tone of voice and a third is done silently?

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

    I love it.
We should offer the Dear Alice course first. It'd help people to understand how absurd the whole thing is.
  24. Soljenitsyne Member

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Oh my. The absolute power of ridiculousness.
Maybe Snickers is for people who are able to make Snickers levitate.
"Get in my mouth. Thank you."

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

In that order, you mean ? Are they ashtray tamers ?
First they use a whip, then a chair, then a tap on the head ?
Do they give Snickers to the most submissive ashtrays ?
  26. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

The purpose of the drill is to teach the student that yelling or any volume/tone of voice is not the factor that gets intention across. Ashtrays were selected because they are (if glass) relatively heavy, with some heft to them, yet easy to lift and lower.

    That's all it is.
  27. Soljenitsyne Member

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

No that's not all it is, baby.
The purpose is to make people get used to totally absurd activities mixed with verbal violence.
Because you have to get used to it, if you wanna become a real Scilon.
The ashtray is a perfect introduction to statistics, Ethics, the Sea Org and RPF.

I guess that your purpose is to prove that Scientology isn't all that bad, just because you don't wanna realize you were all that wrong when you were a Scilon.
Sorry for you. You still have one or two toes in the trap. Enjoy.

Let me give you an example.
Adolf Hitler created a brand : Wolkswagen. It's still there, on every road in Europe.
Does it allow us to say : "Adolf Hitler wasn't all that wrong" ? You decide.
My opinion is that any Wolkswagen product is much, much, much, MUCH more valuable and clever and efficient than any E-Meter or any hypnotic drill or any LRHesque concept, but Adolf Hitler was all that wrong, and still is all that wrong.
    Do you understand ?

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

I don't think you've thought this through OP. All they have to do is ignore you and you end up looking foolish.
  29. Soljenitsyne Member

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

My bet is that they won't ignore the ash-tray the first time they see it.
And I can't end up looking more foolish than them, whatever I do.

It will be a camera-mirror-mask ashtray.
    Call me Anonymous Retard 007.
  33. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

The purpose, like all Hubbards purposes is to give away reality for his constructed reality so you are putty in his hands. The proof is undeniable unless you have gone in agreement with Hubbard, in which case you are caught in his constructed reality and basically have no link to the real reality which is why you can quite simply justify talking to ashtrays.

    That is all.
  34. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Your guess is incorrect. I see a lot of problems with Scn and I saw a lot of indoctrination there and in the writings of Hubbard. I just don't have a problem with that particular drill.

Nah. I cheerfully admit I was wrong about quite a few things. If you'd like me to post a list, I'll do it. But where I really went wrong was the mean spirited thoughts I had about decent people who'd left the cult and were speaking out. I found myself abjectly apologizing to one who has become a friend of mine.

I'm enjoying being an ex Scn'ist. Was that what you meant?
  35. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Of course CofS is rife with indoctrination as are the writings of Hubbard. I've never rebutted that- at least not in the past several years.

My description of the ashtray drill was to just describe the way it is done and the fact that it's not even the way it's described.
  36. adhocrat Member

    Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

    lol

not in my experience. I used to teach that drill and loved getting the students to actually yell rather than just speak loudly. Most people won't yell without prodding. I never had much problem with yelling. Only way to be heard in my family.

    naive, much?

  40. Re: Bullbaiting vs. ashtrays.

Obviously not. (you evidently are unfamiliar with my...ummm...background)

Yep, I used to teach the drill, too. There were three parts to it, varying volumes. There was indeed yelling- for a portion of the drill. You could hear those students down the street, sometimes.
