Buenos Aires Raid Dec 18, 2010 Reporting In!

So there was no thread about the raid today in Buenos Aires I just noticed, so I decided to fill in everyone.

There were 8 of us handing out fliers Petete made. Luckily in Argentina, the org isn't very big. I didn't notice us getting watched too closely by any org members, but we were out-numbered by police (about 10 of them on rotation). We were there for two hours and handed out hundreds of fliers.

We were very successful in getting people aware, a few people chatted and a LOT of cars/buses honked (thanks to my overzealousness)

I think we only got one person who yelled at us to "suck his dick" and one person flipped us off from a bus. So overall it went pretty well. -thumbs up-

Once Petete puts his video together of the raid, I will be sure to post it.

Yes, I didn't take any because I had to come from a very not safe area of Buenos Aires, and i always get wary of having things like cameras with me. One guy was taking pics, and Petete took video the whole time. I am sure he will be editing it soon.

I only said "I think we only got one person" who yelled at us, because I was only on one side of the street. Not sure if the other side of the street got any colorful exclaimations. As soon as I get any pics or video, I will be more than happy to share. <3

Ya working on getting pics and the video. What was sort of sad is that their Scientology building (they only have 2) is right next to a Catholic church.

The odd contrast was everyone rolling up to the Scientology building had like designer clothes and Bentleys/Mercedes, etc. Everyone at the Catholic church was dirt poor, people begging in the front, etc.

Wonder if the Scilons ever donate any of the money people waste on the courses to the people/church that might actually need it. It was heart-breaking. The street kids got a kick out of our masks though.

*Working on bugging Petete about pictures and videos. I'm sorta new to the group, so I don't have much clout lol. My BF also came to help support even though he knew nothing about Scientology before I met him. Luckily, people here are pretty ignorant about the church and staunchly Catholic or Agnostic, so they don't seem to be making that big of an impact *phew*

They claim to have 15,000 + members or so, but I only saw maybe 5 people walk in and out. Their website is also pretty sloppy... so YAY Asociación Argentina de Comunicación y Cultura

I was about to make a thread about it, since I finally could sit on my pc (I missed my chair).

Sorry for no talking too much, but I was a little hoarse. I could barely breath properly with the mask. The police were kind of wtf...one or two for each of us. BATON PARTY?

I will try to make better signs next time. I didn't had all the materials I should have to do one,so it was a mistake to do them in card stock. I still cry over the one who flew away and feel on the dirty water... =(

But over all,it was amazing. I was a virgin,so it was totally awesome. I still feel so rushed and EXTREME after it... lol

P.S: I will get better music next time, and a nice pair of speakers. We should do a rave party. And it was nice to meet you,Cuppy!

Hey Everybody! Hi Cuppy & Core! Cuppy, thanks for starting this thread, I planned to do it, but I overcelebrated our epic win and slept a lot all day after

I heard only one woman yelling at us on my side of the street while I was shooting video, she said something like "oh yeah, its carnival now" or somehing like that, she was obviously Scilon. The funniest part was when her son yelled at her "I like their masks! I want a mask!" LOL

Many many people stopped to ask us questions about Scientology and Anonymous, they were very interested, and I think for what I heard that there is a general dislike for Scientology in the people around here. An old couple in a 4x4 even shouted to us "you are doing a great job!", suddenly stopped the car, moved backwards, and stopped in front of us to talk. They told us they live near them, and that they see strange things from their apartment. Apparently they saw a room where they lock people, talking to them only through a small window in the door, tons of baby clothes hanging, they even heard shouts and crying...

You will be able to watch all that stuff, almost two hours, in some days. I need to change the format of the video files and do some editing, but I think I wont cut anything and only divide it in 15 minute parts to upload it to youtube. I also plan to add english subtitles so all the english speakers anons who wish to watch it can do it. And I tell you, is worth of it.

There were at least 6 police cars in the zone, and most of the cops walking around and standing in front of the entrance of the building. I guess Scientology told them about inexistent bomb threats they received in the week or something. But the cops knew from us from last year, they knew we was no trouble. So when we arrived and started protesting they didnt talked to us, they let us do our thing. But minutes later I noticed that two of us was talking to a police man without uniform. So I went to the other side to the street to shoot video of that, and then I found that guy was the subcomissioner. He listened to us explaining him about the cult and about us, and he said there was no problem, only asked how long we planned to stay, we said one or two hours, and then he said "ok" and left. Went to his car, and drove away, followed by all the other police cars.

3 to 5 cops stayed in the door of the church and moved around every now and then, but they didnt annoyed us or anything, they were like living statues yawning bored, lol.

Btw, I printed exactly 500 flyers, big ones, with the lisa mcpherson story on one side and the elli perking story on the other, with links, etc. And we gave them all. So in two hours we closed the org, and informed more than 500 people. And we grew from 5 protesting anons last year to 8 this time. EPIC WIN!

I will write something in spanish to post it in our blog Anonymous Argentina and here in wwp. One of the guys (Marcabian, the new argentinian gas-masked anon) will send me pictures in next days, and when I while I finish editing the parts of the video I will start uploading them to the tube and adding the links here.

Thanks to all you guys around the world for your support, and thanks a lot to all my fellow Argentinian Anons for making this awesome protest. I love you guys.

But everybody who was there was great, everyone talked to the people, answered their questions, gave flyers, took pictures, waved signs. It was an excellent protest and I feel very happy and proud for all of us.

Btw, we were very lucky because it was announced that it was going to rain almost all day, even thunderstorms, but it didnt rain at all. It was very clouded, and that helped a bit. Last year we suffered a lot, it was 36° C, this time I think 25° or so. Hotter inside the masks anyway, lol.
