Brett Kavanaugh Accused of Sexual Misconduct With Woman During High School, Letter Passed to FBI: Report

SEPTEMBER 13, 2018
Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California referred a letter to federal investigators on Thursday regarding President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
The letter contains information about an incident involving possible sexual misconduct between Kavanaugh and a woman when they were in high school, according to two officials familiar with the contents of the letter who spoke to [COLOR=var(--emphasis-color)]The New York Times[/COLOR].
The letter was first reported by BuzzFeed News, but the contents of it were largely unknown. Feinstein is the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In response, the White House issued a statement defending Kavanaugh.
"Throughout his confirmation process, Judge Kavanaugh has had 65 meetings with senators–including with Senator Feinstein–sat through over 30 hours of testimony, addressed over 2,000 questions in a public setting and additional questions in a confidential session,” the statement said. “Not until the eve of his confirmation has Sen. Feinstein or anyone raised the specter of new ‘information’ about him.”
Earlier that day, Feinstein’s office released a statement saying it had received “information from an individual concerning” Kavanaugh. The unnamed individual “strongly requested confidentiality [and declined] to come forward or press the matter further.” Feinstein then passed the information along to the FBI.
