Berlin, 08/29/2010: Short Flashraid, good Crime film afterwards Salve, patronus alter plebs! We had a small flashraid on Sunday, 08/29/2010 in Berlin at the Scientology Stresstest-Booth on the Potsdamer Platz with only five Anons for about two hours. Nevertheless it was nice and successful. Over the day it was very rainy, so we hopped for some good pictures of a booth in the rain, but unfortunately we brought the sun to the booth: it only rained before and after us. (Yeah, we god-like, aren’t we?) But even if there was no rain, the tent who should protect the booth before the drizzle and more was always in the danger of a collapse. The Scifags had to run around it all the time to hold the tent and pull and drag something. They managed it this time, but the tent has become old – and apparently there is no money left for a new one – so maybe the next time we get epic pictures of the tent broke down. [Damn, Peter caught it in the last minute.] Public educated themselves As you can see in the video, nothing really happened on the booth. Sure, they got some Scifags on it, even called for more. But... that doesn’t brought them more traffic. There were just more people standing around, making fun of them. One mother showed their three kids the booth and then told them for about half an hour, why Scientology is a bad thing and why we are protesting for a good cause. And the Scifags, who always tried to tell their lies were silenced by her and couldn’t do a thing about it. Another man put his arm around one Scifag when he was ask if he wants to do a Stresstest and told the Scifag, that he is alright with his life, had worked for such and such years, and now has the money to relax, looking after young woman from time to time and chill. That was funny, because he was not older than the stressed Scifag who could see for a moment how his life could be, if he wasn’t the cult-member he is. And another young couple who stood there for a while taped on their forehead, when a Scifag ask them for a Stresstest and ask back, if he really thinks that we (the Anons) protest just for fun and if he is really that brainwashed. Nice one. So you see, we didn’t had to do that much (which was a good thing this Sunday, because... it was a long Saturday for everyone of us), the public educated themselves. When one Scifag tried to talk to one of the people who made fun of him, he claimed, that Scientology is active in 163 countries – everybody told him, that this is a lie. But that raises a very good question for future research: In how many countries is the cult still present? Could somebody do another census? That should be a number below 100 and would be a good argument to have. A sad story On a sad note, one older woman came around who was literary forced to buy a book at the booth that day, before we started the raid. She came back when we were there and told us her story. She is just recovering from a very heavy illness. For months she had to stay in bed and the only social contact she had were the doctor and the nursing staff. This day was this first day since winter, were she felt good enough to go into the city for some hours. And this was the situation were she was tricked to take a Stresstest and then buy Dianetics, because “this is was you need, what really could help you” (and so on). Scientology was not mentioned the whole time. She just found out later, that this was a booth of the cult and that was the reason, why she came back – to get here money back (even if she had to much fear at the end, to really get it). But those are the methods of Scientology: targeting the people who need some social contact. I know: we know that this is the way it works, but... it’s always something else, if you meet somebody who was a victim of this tactic. But on the other hand, this woman had found something in the new sold German version of Dianetics she could show us. On page 502/503 of the paperpack-version there are some reproductions of promotion-articles for the book, and on one of them, Scientology states that Dianetics could heal homosexuality, which is only a result of gone wrong abortions. Yep: that’s what their print on paper. Another, this time, good story: One man came around, who told us that he and his colleagues from work in Hamburg celebrated their Christmas-party by dressing as Santa Clauses, getting hammered and then running into the Hamburg Org and have fun. He told us that their doing it for years and – yeah, I would like to see some vids of this too. But the idea for itself is great. [Much more interesting: Science-exhibition, right besides the spot of the Scientology-Booth.] Another Film about Scientology After the raid we went to a public screening of the latest episode of “Tatort”. Tatort is a well-respect crime series, who is produced by the public-law broadcasting stations of Germany and Austria, which runs since 1970 and has the reputation of being the crime series with the highest standard in the German-speaking TV-landscape. About eight to ten million people (of 81 million in Germany, 8 Million in Austria and about 4,5 Million german speaking in Switzerland) watching this series every Sunday evening. So, what was different this time? This episode played in a Scientology-like cult in Vienna. One member, who was on her way out, was murdered and now the cult tried to cover up. The cult wasn’t called Scientology – but ‘Epitarsis’ –, but everything else was purely Scientology: there were direct quotes (“We are the fastest growing organisation in Europe”), there was a Auditing-like ehm … Auditing, there were all the crime, the cover up, the target to rule the world, the use of information and fraud against the “enemy”, and especially the talk about “suppressive elements” and the break-up of families. It was – besides the story itself – an education about Scientology. And a really good one. (Hope somebody can produce an English version for WWP.) Yeah – but that was one reason why we had to cut the flashraid short.
