Mappin needs to wordclear "fuller". Go ahead and look it up for a laugh. Unless that's one of those wacky cult-coined terms like "beingness", which no one else in the word uses, he's showing his lack of education when he should have said more full.

Also, that's one of them cultie "demotivation" thingies. "We're fuller than ever" should read, "Your efforts are useless and resistance is futile."

I see you John Mappin, and I can read your mind!

Busiest November ever? Lol. Sources on the ground say that Camelot Castle Hotel seems to be quieter than ever, judging by the lack of cars in the car park and absence of tour buses visiting. So where are these customers coming from? Underground tunnels? Helicoptered in from Kazakhstan?

That email from John Mappin which Sharon posted shows many similarities to official Sci Corp. ® marketing ploys recently but it reeks of desperation even more so. The tl;dr of the email is here's a special discount offer for you because we're fuller (sic) than ever! Non sequitur much?

Watching this news report has made me really uptone, at first, and then I was so Tone 40.

My congrats & thanks to all involved, including the BBC. Unsuspecting members of the public are being fleeced. It's far worse than I had imagined. I loved the tone of the BBC report - it was comical yet informative. :D

^ In time, I hope this features high on all Google, Yahoo and Bing searches for Camelot Castle Hotel.

As others have pointed out, they are already trying to saturate the search engines by registering multiple domain names.

The iPlayer version doesn't work for me, probably cos it has been longer than 7 days since the date of broadcast.

/r/ backups of the *.mov file available to download on [ame=http://vimeo.com/13887539]Camelot Castle Celebration - The Secret of Camelot Castle on Vimeo[/ame] (in case they take it down in the future).

/r/ mod please remove the Vimeo embed above, my intention is just to put a link there!

/r/ Mark Bunker replace the low-res youtube video on www.xenutv.com/blog/?p=5084 with the high res version above. (the low res Youtube has captions linking to the now defunct BBC iPlayer page)

    GRANNY E-MAIL

'IDEAL' CHILDREN FRIENDLY SPAM REVIEW - THE LATEST TRIP ADVISOR FAKE 15 NOVEMBER

We stayed at Camelot Castle Hotel as we were attending a wedding in Tintagel. The castle is extremely grand looking from the outside and on arrival you are greeted by a very warm welcome by the people on reception. As you walk into the Grand Hall the fires are burning and it is a very nice scene on arrival.

We stayed in a family room, which was fairly basic in layout, but also very big so plenty of room for the three of us. To start with the room was quite chilly, but we asked the reception for an extra blanket for our little girl and within a very short period of time our room had been transformed! From beds with a sheet and blanket to beds with huge, warm winter duvets which were very cosy! *****My main and most important compliment that I can pay this hotel is the staff and owners there. Everyone is extremely friendly and incredibly accomodating of a lively 5 year old little girl! My daughter loved the hotel dogs (and new puppy) and she was constantly allowed to go and play with them.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay and you have children with you, I would definitely recommend the Camelot Castle as you and your children will be made most welcome.

Re: BBC Inside Out (video): Camelot Castle Hotel 15th Nov 2010

That's amusing. From chilly, 'basic' room with threadbare bedding to... chilly 'basic' room with warm winter duvets! And all they had to do in this 5 star haven of Gran-tastic midweek luxury was to go all the way to the reception ... and ASK!!

It's funny to think that in a decent hotel a) the rooms wouldn't be cold b) it wouldn't be 'basic' and c) you wouldn't have to ask for basic, decent warm bedding.

    More Scilon-logic PR.

We sat in front of the wonderful roaring log fire and retired to our basic room.

The room was cold so we asked if the central-heating could be turned on

Tintagel - Village in North Cornwall - Visit Cornwall

Make Tintagel Visitor Centre your first port of call...........

............If you are interested in history and wildlife or just love walking in prime countryside, then you will be spoilt for choice. Put aside a day to explore the Island ruins - starting with a visit to the English Heritage centre. Look over St. Materiana's Church - a spiritual site since the 6th century. Back in the village, visit the wonderful Old Post Office (originally a 14th century Hall house) and now owned by the National Trust, or King Arthur's Great Halls with its magnificent stained glass windows.

The centre of the village has just completed a substantial makeover. New, locally sourced, granite paving and slate kerbs, improved parking and pedestrian access throughout the village, miles of ugly overhead cables banished underground and a new village square means Tintagel is on the way up.

Did you read this carefully, and note not a mention on this official web-site of the pebble-dashed castle lol

Tintagel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The most notable of the hotels is the King Arthur's Castle Hotel (Castle Hotel) (more recently the Camelot Castle Hotel) which was an enterprise of Sir Robert Harvey and opened in 1899: the architect was Silvanus Trevail. It stands alone on land previously known as Firebeacon and many fine building stones were used in its construction.[43] In November 2010, an exposé of the hotel's business practices was broadcast by the BBC television programme Inside Out South West.[44]

Rewatched the video to notice the broadcaster tapping a stone marker that says on it 'National Heritage' and she says, "Nothing is real here."

Are they putting up fake Heritage markers?

I'm the anon that posted the links to english heritage, and was confused by the similar names (as are tourists probably as well).

The hotel is NOT on english heritage list, only the ruins of tintagel castle, which is featured in the pictures at the link up above.

    My mistake.

At 9:05 in the downloadable version of the report, link in the OP, there is a national trust sign that the knight is faking pulling a sword out of.

The sign has the national trust logo, and below it the words "Grebe Cliff" and an arrow pointing left that looks like it has the letters YHA within it.

Re: BBC Inside Out (video): Camelot Castle Hotel 15th Nov 2010

We've already seen that Camelot Castle Hotel deliberately benefits from mild 'passing off' (look what happens when you search for 'english heritage camelot' Note the 1st result and go through to look at the page it links to.

That's no accident. Look how they've structured their web content to get exactly that result. The same applies to the directions in their gallery window - all written to get tourists looking for Tintagel Castle into the Hotel.

Scientology outfits have a strong track record of mimicking anything they think will bring them more credibility, more recruits and ultimately more money. I can't be bothered to link to examples but you can probably Google 'scientology passing off' and get plenty to read.

I think the BBC's message was clear AND probably, er... 'multi-layered' :)
