    Battle Creek protests?

So, I just started getting back into the protests, and I didn't see a thread for Battle Creek.

Have they disbanded, given up, or merged with Farmington Hills??

I'd love to get back into protesting now that I actually have free time.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Now would be a great time for a protest. The local $cilons have just paid off the mortgage on the historic building that is to become their new "Ideal Org", according to a local blogger.

And, the Mayor has promised to give them tax-free status on the property "forever".

There is also an anime/gamer con this coming weekend. Kuzuricon: News

    Let's party in Battle Creek.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Could we do something in farmington hills? Battle creek is like an hour and a half away from me. I'm cool with it, but would prefer fh. Like I said before, we should do this before November..
  11. Z0MB13 Member

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Agreed. Maybe setting one up the weekend before Halloween?
  12. mjunk Member

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Uhh, I might not be able to make it weekend before halloween, im doing 3 parties each day that weekend.
  13. Z0MB13 Member

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Yeah, I just learned that I'm going to be party-raging all that weekend and Halloween weekend.

So, if it can't happen this month, how about sometime at the start of November?

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

    OK Fgts.

workers renovate Hart Hotel for CoS (old PR)

They've finished renovating, but it may be worth investigating whether asbestos and hot tar require hazmat workers, and to find out what kind of safety equipment was being used. I'm also interested in the "classes" that the CoS gave to its workers before removing asbestos. I suggest you find Maria Guy and someone familiar with Michigan's building/construction codes.

Hart Hotel mortgage paid off, tax-free status given by mayor (PR from this summer)

Dunno whether the mayor has commented on this since the CoS was convicted of organized fraud in France. The Hart Hotel is at the corner of Washington & West Van Buren in Battle Creek. People who care about Battle Creek as the Cereal City might be more opposed to CoS owning this historic property with all the recent negative press.

Michael Delaware is one of the high-ranking Scilons in the area.

Polic arrest anti-Scientology protestors for wearing masks.

His name appears in practically every PR from CoS in the Battle Creek area.

It's obviously too late to influence today's election, but local elected officials are people you want to keep in mind for future protests.

Michael Delaware has helped with campaign contributions to State Representative Michael Nofs

Michael Delaware and Mike Nofs are also friends on Facebook

Michael Nofs is running for the 19th State Senate District, and election day is today.

Open Seat in Mich. Senate to be Filled Tuesday

Mike Nofs is a friend of Michael Delaware and probably a friend of Scientology. Dig around for moar info, gaise.

I hope I've provided you fgts with enough local research and ideas to get your cell up and protesting.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

I'm in for a Battle Creek protest-local resident. Will bring video and still camera. Also have a business location just a block from the Scilons HQ so protesters can assemble there if needed.

The Mayor hasn't commented on the whole Hart Hotel tax-free issue. I don't agree with tax abatements for organizations that bring nothing to the community. No jobs, no involvement in making our town a better place, etc., It's a moot point, today is election day, he's not running for re-election and we'll have a new Mayor next week.

Let's make something happen in Battle Creek. The local Scilons are due for a little enturbulation.

Asbestos removal is a 'hazmat' issue. Hot tar? Not. Did it for a few years when young and stupid (got my share of permanent scars, nasty shit), messy, dangerous work that should only be done by qualified roofers with insurance.
Its all kinda after the fact now, but anyone on the asbestos crew should now be getting regular lung checks, trouble is the cancers can take decades to show up :(

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

I guess it is a good thing that they are Scilons because their super powers can heal that damage and magically cure any asbestos-related illnesses.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

Nofs has an insurmountable lead. He will be serving the remainder of the previous seatholder's term, till Nov. 2010. I suggest you dig up moar info on any connections between Nofs and Scientology for lulz at protests. Like this one:

Center celebrates new starts, Rehab facility helps people shake their substance abuse
I haven't done any research on Lorence Wenke, so it may be worthwhile to find out if he has any further Scilon involvement, too.

God fucking damnit, lets organize this shit already

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

...said the guy who is perfectly capable of organizing this shit already.

i already helped you faggots with a bunch of research, and i'm fucking based on the west coast.

you should PM the other posters ITT.

it looks like many globals will be occurring on november 14.

I have heard of a billboard for Co$ on the expressway near Battle Creek.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

The contribution Nofs accepted was from a Realtors group, not from Scilons.

The good news: he has to run again next November. You have a whole year to watch him and monitor his campaign contributions, and any other CoS involvement.

If he takes Scilon money, you have a whole year to find out, expose it, and tar him for it.
I couldn't find any other connections between Wenke and Scientology. He seems like a pretty good guy.

Yesterday, on November 5, a trio of protesters arrived in Battle Creek. Fortunately, I saw them go by. otherwise I'd have missed the whole thing.

Happy to stage at our business location on the 14th. about a block from org. Will also pass out copies of the law on "masks and disguises" which was questioned yesterday when protesters arrived-they were told masks were okay prior to the protest and told masks not okay when they arrived in town. I later got a copy of the law from the Michigan Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Handbook. Here are the facts:

750.396 Wearing mask or face covering device

Sec. 396 A person who intentionally conceals his or her identity by wearing a mask or other device covering his or her face for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a crime is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both.

As long as no crime is committed or intended to be committed during the protest, we are good on this. I belong to an organization that does regular protest rallies in town during the summer months-our next one is November 13th. We work closely with the PD who provides us with escorts so we can walk in the streets as we march. We are a protest-friendly city.

I can also review things with PD to make sure that we all know what the rules are so that the protest happens smoothly and that the Scilons have no grounds for objection, and nobody gets arrested. In fact, I could probably arrange for a member of the PD to brief us before we hit the streets, maybe even an escort. It's up to what the rest of the protesters are comfortable with.

Please feel free to PM me.

  37. Re: Battle Creek protests?

LOL, great share. I probably shouldn't admit that I saw that when it first aired on SNL, but I did. And I love my Canons.

The photos above in the thread that I posted for inspiration were taken with a Canon Rebel XTI, and the video of the Mortgage Burning ceremony was shot with a Canon Vixia HF200.

Okay, so we've got a date-November 14. And a staging Area (31 West Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49017). All we need now is a time to meet at the staging area to begin the action.

What's a good protesting hour, taking into consideration that some people will have to drive a ways to get to the Cereal City.

    Protest o'clock?

How about 3:00? Is that a good time for protesting, or is earlier like 1:00 better?

Keeping in mind that it's getting dark by fucking 5:00 this time of year.

    Re: Battle Creek protests?

    3 is way too late
  40. Re: Battle Creek protests?

How about we start at 11:00 am? Not too early, not too late...
