With a few of us already there around 10:30, a $cilon crossed the street to tell us (fairly politely), that they were having a memorial service, and would we mind not protesting today. He left, and shortly afterwards we were swarmed by cop cars. They asked if we could protest after 2 p.m., or come back tomorrow (we were also asked to turn off our cameras, which we did). The supervisor showed up and said we weren't required to leave, but if we stayed they would be watching us closely, and they would come down on us for the slightest ordinance violation. (I'm not sure if this should be taken as a threat, or just standard procedure. All the other cops were very pleasant, the sup was a little pissy.) One cop suggested we might be blocking traffic for the OJ's, although that does not seem to have been a problem in over a year of prots. Discussing with another cop, we agreed we could avoid future conflicts by notifying them in advance of our chosen raid dates. Ultimately they let us protest down the street, and thanked us for doing so.

I think it's fair for them to ask us not to protest during a funeral service, and we risk looking like the Westboros if we stay. All the same, not sure why it took 5+ cruisers pulling up at once for a situation like this.

Still, even with all that, and even with the rain, great protest. Nashanons, it was excellent meeting you. The dedication prize goes to takenashi for showing up with crutches and a neck brace.

i thought you guys were all being vanned when we pulled up. the four-plus cop cars with lights flashing was definitely a little excessive... probably just to intimidate everyone into going along. thanks to the anon who were there early for handling things diplomatically and keeping up our good relationship with the u.city pd.

if the police want us to resume notifying them of raid dates, we can definitely extend that courtesy. however... i think our current police contact would probably be glad to pass the duty on to someone else. this may require namefagging yourself to the u.city pd, so carefully consider if you want this responsibility and... idk PM me about it, i guess. we'll work it out =)

i had a great time at the raid... i think the spot we moved to was good, and might have even been higher visibility to approaching traffic. we also had a few people stop to ask us why we had moved, which goes to show you how much of a u.city fixture we've become in the last year and a half.

the rain was not too bad... we left before it started coming down crazy, and the soundtrack courtesy of elboxxy was nice (this girl knows her geek music).

it was great to have you guys in from out of town... thanks to elby, 44, and max for making the journey and livening things up. was also great to see some local faces that i hadn't crossed paths with in a while -- you know who you are >_>

Woo-hoo! I'm working wth a client in Saint Louis from August 23-October 9 and am looking forward to meeting you folks.

I have led protests in Orlando four times, and participated twice in New York City, also Phoenix and New Haven, CT. Thank you, boss-lady, for paying for these business trips... so I can go and protest with my Anon friends in cities across the US.

What's is like out there? The photos above are pretty awesome.

The Org is in an awesome part of the city. We don't get alot of action, but we have fun. I had a car stolen in belleville once...

So maybe this was said somewhere else and I need to lurk moar, but now that the charges against Ace were dropped... Have you, or do you plan to, go on the sidewalk on the same side as the Org again?

I realize you didn't really have much of a chance to this month because of their "services," but I was just wondering what-all (am I sounding St. Louisian enough for you?) came of that and was just curious.
