April 16th Dallas, TX Raid - THEY THINK WE HAVE AN AXE?!?

Overview of teh RAID:

Anons started arriving at the meeting spot just before 11:00AM, and some Jimmy John's employees came by around 11:45AM and gave us free (!!!!) sandwiches (a new and amazing development.) We waved our signs along the busy road at the meeting point until about 12:30PM and then relocated to the Org.

The raid outside the Org was pretty much business as usual until a few Anons decided to enturbulate around the rear of the building (still public property.) One newbish Anon found a big stick along the road and thought he'd be cute by asking Arlo, our cultie photographer, if he could throw the "litter" away for him. A couple of us dissuaded the stick-wielding Anon, who immediately put the stick down, and another Anon moved it to a curb a good distance away.

And that would have been the end of the story... If the Scilons weren't crazy.

After the stick had already been abandoned on the curbside, Arlo told a couple of our Anons, "Better hide that bat!" (LOL, "bat," so dramatic) and then left the cult's property to go photograph the abandoned stick. At this point we decided it might be a good idea to rejoin our fellow DallAnons in front of the Org, and, since the Scilons were expressing so much interest in it, not to leave the stick behind.

A few minutes after we arrived back in front of the Org, a cop car pulled up (nothing new there; our local Scilons are positively cop-happy.) More unexpectedly, the police officer got out of his squad car, approached us, AND ASKED US IF WE WERE CARRYING AN AXE. According to the police officer, someone from the cult (*cough*Arlo*cough*) called the police and claimed we were "swinging an axe around."

Of course, we had no axes and happily showed the police our belongings to prove it. We explained what happened with the stick and assured the police that not only had Arlo seen exactly what happened with the stick, he also had photographs of it, and we had the whole event on video. The police here are used to us, and this one was especially friendly. He had already been chuckling when he asked about the axe, and by the end he was accepting a flier, taking a picture on his iPhone, and telling us the other officers at the station were disappointed they didn't get to answer the call and come see us. ...LOL. (We let him keep the stick.)

(Some time in the middle of the stick drama, the Jimmy John's guys came back with more free sandwiches.)

Unfortunately, a few minutes later two more, somewhat less friendly, cops showed up and said the cult had called again, claiming we were blocking the sidewalk, and they were tired of coming out to answer the calls. (Despite the fact that it's part of their job description and not our fault the Scilons are so edgy, amirite?) They couldn't answer our questions about where else we should stand, since the sidewalk we were on is the only public property in the vicinity safe for pedestrians (i.e. not open road) so we decided to march up and down, thereby technically not obstructing the sidewalk. We marched for a while, but the Scilons had turned the sprinklers on and it was getting hot (and a bit boring) marching back and forth.

We returned to our meeting point along a busier road, waved signs for a while and ate caek (okay, it was actually brownies) before heading our separate ways around 4:30PM.

Overall an excellent and lulzy protest, full of excitement and adventure.

If I left anything out, I'm sure the other Anons will fill it in, and pics are coming soon.

EDIT: Final count was 13 Anons at the raid!

EDIT 2: Apparently the stick was some kind of handle? I don't know anything about construction tools... It was a big stick.

Reminds me of the time they told the cops our green plastic boombox was a bucket of acid. Or the time they told the cops one of the anons had a gun...because there was a gun on his tshirt.

We gave it to them to be thrown away.

I see that the problem continues to be; cops blaming anon for cult phoning in bawww. I would like a think tank to address this. I also wish to do some tank thinking. This is exploitable; cops asking protesters to gtfo cuz target bawwws nonstop is wrong. To the grassroots media, ho!

If that's the case, it must have been lying there for a long time - the wood was pretty weathered.

Totally forgot about the alarm, but I don't think it was a bank and the big black vehicle was a people-mover, not an armored vehicle; their logo was on the side and there were seats in it and windows.
