One of my favorite things about their reports is that they preface narCONon with "scientology-based rehab" :)

It helps inoculate their viewers against the claim that it's "completely secular". Actually, I guess it really is completely secular, since scientology really is a business.

David Love ‎"Scientology is quite likely the most ruthless, the most classically terroristic, the most litigious and the most lucrative cult the country has ever seen. No cult extracts more money from its members." - - It is not a matter of “if” another person will die, it is a matter of “when.” Narconon is a dangerous rehab center, with unqualified staff, and the health risks and dangers to the patients must not be tolerated any further.

Here's an earlier report that was uploaded in May:

We investigated a Scientology drug rehab place that people claim is not giving people medicine, and it is killing people.

  7. Narconon's facebook is lighting up with links to the articles and messages of outrage.

    http://www.facebook.com/StopAddiction

They aren't even posting Anonymously; they're using their real names. This may be a turning point; people aren't afraid of speaking out against Scientology anymore.

Tracey Coleman head of PR- Scientology, Queen Victoria Street in London UK has the gaul to run a seminar on "Human Rights, Child Abuse and human trafficking". It is sickening that she promotes and covers for scientology. Scientology is responsible for Stacy Dawn Murphy's death and people are being held captive in scientology's Narconon units.

  14. I googled stopaddiction.com, these scamming Scientologists absolutely advertised 70% success rates with no mention of the medically dangerous 100% Scientology courses and processing that they use and have NEVER been shown to be effective in treating or curing drug addiction. They've recently changed the stopaddiction.com to redact this outrageous claim.

Narconon has always been fraud on a grand scale.

These bastards have no conscience whatsoever, they have changed their www.stopaddiction.com (Warning: Scientology Site) to show up as a drug treatment referral operation redacting all of the Narconon 70% cure promises that used to be up front.

This is why 'Beau Griffs' is claiming to be a drug treatment referral specialist who only uses Narconon as one of many treatment centers to help others. All links on different states etc. lead back to a 1 800 # that will send you to 'Beau' and other scientologists, imho

This is the major problem with Scientology, these fuckers never, ever, by policy take responsibilty for the havoc their scams create, instead they vigorously attack those who expose their atrocities and adjust their promotions accordingly, changing names, redacting as mush of their lies as they can, etc.

Stacy Murphy is dead because of their negligence and complete ineptness. To Scientology/Narconon this is a flap that needs to be covered up instead of a horrible tragedy that took a beautiful young lady's life due their actons and inactions, never accept responsibility, sell, sell, sell.........

P.S. The above google search is proof that Scientology/Narconon is a bunch of brutal, greedy, heartless scammers using false advertising.

Narconon is a cash-cow for David Miscavige, it's time for him to face the consequences for running this brutal scam.

SHUT ALL NARCONONS DOWN and their front group name change operations.

That shows that the fuckers are sweating.

BTW, Narconon Gulf Coast advertised 90% success rate. (Ooh, they now redirect to a no Narconon site, but they still claim 90.2% success.)

    narconongulfcoast.com/ (CoS site!)

They seem to have linked up with a group that isn't too careful about who they bed down with:

  19. The patients, who do manage to escape the Cult’s clutches, are encouraged to take the Field Staff Member’s (FSM) course. Once completed, with Certificate in hand, the patient can now leave and begin hustling more vulnerable victims back into the Scientology Rehab.
The FSM earns 10% of the $30,000 Narconon fee, with some recruiting several per week. Indeed a lucrative example of pushing their Scientology religion into the “Secular” community, as in “Expansion” of Scientology to clear the planet of evil and all who not believe.

    Relapsed
The majority of Narconon graduates relapse back into the chains of addiction soon after leaving and the cycle of addiction takes a devastating toll on all concerned, including family members and friends.

Ty, David Love for this ^^^^^^^

Former addicts who 'graduate' are usually offered jobs as Narconon FSM's providing they become scientologists who earn some large commissions, of course they have to play ball and take courses and auditing @ Scientology which in turn returns more money to the greedy money-laundering cult, imho.

From all I can find is "unintended" death which to me reads overdosing on vitamins and whatever else they were giving her. So much for proper medical recovery treatment. This whole organization needs to be shut down.

Tough Time for Scientology Continues with Death in Narconon Treatment Center | Disinformation

Posted by Matt Staggs on July 21, 2012

The Church of Scientology has been having a rough go of it lately: first there was the very public separation of high-ranking COS mucky-muck Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes, then the premiere of the trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s thinly disguised film about Scientology, The Master. Now, it seems, the Church has another potential media disaster on their hands: a(nother) death at one of their flagship Narconon treatment center in Canadian, Ok.

According to a story in the Village Voice, a twenty-year old patient, Stacy Dawn Murphy, is reported to have died of an overdose in the center’s withdrawal unit. That makes the third death at the center since October.

A former patient of the center, Colin Henderson, (see Colin’s story here) has been a fierce opponent of Narconon since his own stay in 2007. Henderson stated that he has written to state representative T.W. Shannon numerous times with his concerns about what he described as Narconon’s “quack science” and “low-paid, non-medical staff.” Prior to the incident, Shannon’s response was that he generally supported “faith-based treatment programs” and found nothing wrong with “facilities being up front about their priorities.”

Henderson blames the state’s Department of Mental Health for the young woman’s death and also said that it was obvious to him that Shannon had never read his email. The situation continues to unfold, but even at this early stage, to say that this looks bad for the Church would be an understatement.

Based on the teachings of Church founder L. Ron Hubbard, Narconon (an entirely different entity from Narcotics Anonymous) was established in the mid-sixties. A central tenet of Narconon is the belief that intoxicants are stored in the body’s fat tissues to be sweated out over time. When this happens, the addict’s drug cravings occur. Narconon uses sauna treatments to assist the patient in sweating out the toxins in a controlled, presumably safe environment.

Narconon has been the subject of controversy for a number of reasons beyond the questionable efficacy of its treatment methods. Narconon has offered its services to public school programs, and while Narconon’s spokespersons have stressed that the program is separate from the Church, others have questioned the veracity of the claim.

  27. I agree this is a very welcome development, but I don't think this counts as a derail. It's a case of a wrongful death associated with NN, so it fits this thread, as it shows it is part of a larger pattern within Narconon as a whole.

  29. What difference will a few days make? NN can't "clean up" the deaths they've had there. I'd much rather they take the time to do the research and nail their asses to the wall with questions they can't dodge without looking worse.

  30. I don't know what the success rate is for ibogaine, but even doing nothing has a higher success rate than Narconon. If Scientology worked, Kirstie Alley would not be fat, a bitch, or a fat bitch.

  39. To that, I quote Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice:

"Nay, indeed, if you had your eyes, you might fail of the knowing me: it is a wise father that knows his
own child. Well, old man, I will tell you news of your son: give me your blessing: truth will come to light; murder cannot be hid long; a man's son may, but at the length truth will out."

Yeah, drill them harder. It may have been two generations since Jonestown and one since David Koresh, but cult-like behavior will always ping as "wrong" to people, because people know bullshit when they smell it. There is absolutely nothing Narconon can do that will change the fact of Gabriel Graves', Hillary Holten's, Kaysie Wernick's, and Stacy Murphy's deaths or the fact that they held Regina Ramsey's daughter and 14 other patients against their will, requiring a response from the Sheriff's department to get Ramsey's daughter out. Nothing they do can improve their position. In fact, the attempt to do so will worsen it, not that the CoS realizes this.

Not to sound like too much of an asshole, but people die of drug addiction all the time. It's very sad, but if the news covered every instance, they wouldn't have time to cover stories that affect us all, such as who Kim Kardashian is fucking or why Andy Griffith's passing is a national tragedy while our broken health care system is not. One or two is not a pattern. Three is, and four gives them the cover they need to do this story. It's not unlike how governments decide to place a traffic light in less traveled areas. When enough people die, it gets done.
