Very nice and you make some good points. What you said about internet laws interests me. I know someone who is a security specialist, and was courted for a Gov contract. This person and small posse would oversee CIA, MIL, FBI, GOV, and the entire lot. As requested, they hacked the (inside) staff page of the CIA for a show of skill, which was done. Yet, they said that they'd decline the very substantial contract if the Patriot Act went through, which it did.

Ah, gotcha! Well, I appreciate it, and...well, I study power and influence for a living, so I guess that comes out in personality sometimes. haha.
  3. Gramfouleuze Member

No kidding? Well, I'm glad your associate had the....ethical fortitude to turn a job like that down!

I'm still waiting for a link.

Ah, I missed that. None of my writing on Anonymous is available online...I expect what I'm writing to take until june-august to be ready for publication. And, just to clarify, none of my writing is exclusively about Anonymous but the wider freedom of information movement mentioned above that I see Anonymous as a key player in (all in all, before I shape it into book format, my writing will be approximately 100-150 pages, broken up into ~20 page articles). Thanks for reminding me of this, because something I forgot to mention above is that I'm planning on making my project available to everyone here as each section becomes finalized and/or published.

    Thank you. This sounds interesting.

You do realize 'round these parts that means it doesn't exist, right?
Also just double-checkin but you don't think wwp = Anonymous do you?

Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing your material.

    I like it.

I would've taken the position to work from the inside. More perks all around. heh

Hey, I don't make the terminology....but, I will say that since "all theory is from someone and for someone", and since my writing is for international relations and security policy circles, it could be considered a form of lobbying on behalf of information freedom activists such as yourself. I'm just sayin....
  13. Gramfouleuze Member

Ha! I can assure you that it very much does exist, if not yet in the online world....I've spent many long days/nights bringing it into existence. And, no, I don't think wwp=Anonymous, but since it's a much more 'public relations'-like site, I figured I'd start here....honestly, I think it went well!

    (1) What specific political beliefs, orientations, or affiliations do you hold that influence your beliefs about censorship, information freedom, and/or direct action and activism? That is, politically or socially, what—if anything—do you consider yourself?.

I really don't get that worked up about censorship, I think some things should be kept out the public domain. However the likes of Wikileaks has brought to light certain atrocities and information that otherwise would have remained covered up, for that I support them 100%. I don't believe my political/social ideas/status has any influence on what I believe today about "censorship, information freedom, and/or direct action and activism" so I am not going to tell you where I stand/elaborate on those points.

    (2) If a list was somehow compiled of the names and identities of 100 Anons, and there was a high-profile lawsuit filed to keep those names hidden from the public, what would your reaction to the lawsuit be? Would you (1) support the lawsuit or (2) fight the lawsuit?

I don't think you fully understand the nature of Anonymous or the nature of this site/Project Chanology from that question. We are fighting the Church of Scientology here, they will try and find our information and will make it publicly available, usually along with a nice smear story - law suits want stop that from happening. I kind of get what you're asking but it's so vague I can't give you a specific answer but I guess - (1).

    (3) Is your participation in Anonymous increasing, decreasing, or staying the same?

I'd say it was staying the same. Whilst I do occasionally browse 1 or 2 of the chans, my main affiliation with Anonymous is here. I was, from the time I got involved in Chanology, to the time I moved to a country that does not allow Scientology, a regular and active protester. Whilst I am no longer able to protest, my conviction in the fight remains strong and I fully intend to pick up where I left off when I eventually return. The amount of money I've spent on Project Chanology has actually increased since leaving the UK though.

    (4) In terms of your technological skill-level (computer literacy, internet savvy, software and programming capabilities), do you consider yourself (1) a little skilled (2) somewhat skilled, or (3) very skilled?

I'd consider myself fairly computer literate and internet savvy (above the average Joe), my programming capabilities are limited but growing.

    (5) How frequent is your anonymous, online interaction with other members of Anonymous? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

    Daily.

    (6) Do you know any other Anons personally? That is, are there social ties that go beyond purely anonymous online interaction?

I've brought friends and family to protests before, though no one else present would have known this at the time. Some of the people I used to protest regularly I got to know fairly well, though we never met if there wasn't some sort of Anonymous vs. Scientology agenda occurring that day.

    (7) Do you participate in any social or political activities or movements other than Anonymous? If yes, what are those?

Politically - no // Socially - I'm not quite following you.

    (8) Would you characterize your online Anonymous activity as (1) mostly passive, (2) mostly active, or (3) other?

    (2) - again keep in mind, that is all basically here.

    (9) Have you ever felt as though your identity was being sought out by an unknown individual due to your participation in Anonymous?

Yes - the Church of Scientology. But they can go fuck themselves, finding out my identity would only spur me on further.

    (10) What is your full name and address?

    Pass

EDIT: After reading through some other posts, I want to add re Q.1 - I'm a very strong believer on freedom of speech and belief, as long as it isn't hurting anyone, people should able to believe whatever batshit insane stuff they feel like.

Okay, so there is one small google groups page started a few years back by me and some friends of mine....I've posted one piece of writing on it regarding ideology and wikileaks, and I've just now posted another that directly references Anonymous near the conclusion. I guess now that my identity has been outed, there's no reason not to post this.
These are very theory-heavy articles and you'll probably find them extremely boring, but they are meant as parts of the theoretical foundation for my wider discussions of information freedom and protest movements in international relations. For the time being, I'll just give up these two, as--for personal and professional reasons--I don't want a ton of my work to be viewable in unpublished form.
The first is called "Ideological State Apparatuses and Wikileaks," and the second is called "Power and Information in a Modern Society of Control." They can be found under the 'Discussions' section at the address below. Again, these are unfinished works of political theory, so please go easy on them. They can be found here:

Depends what the law contains and any sub laws passed with that one.

    (3) Is your participation in Anonymous increasing, decreasing, or staying the same?
Stable if not become more involved.

    (4) In terms of your technological skill-level (computer literacy, internet savvy, software and programming capabilities), do you consider yourself (1) a little skilled (2) somewhat skilled, or (3) very skilled?
I have a degree in computer sciences.

    (5) How frequent is your anonymous, online interaction with other members of Anonymous? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?
depends I either am on daily or weekly. Always in the loop though.

    (6) Do you know any other Anons personally? That is, are there social ties that go beyond purely anonymous online interaction?
Yes I do. Raids bring us together and we have A LOT of fun after.

    (7) Do you participate in any social or political activities or movements other than Anonymous? If yes, what are those?
Not really, although if a worthy cause comes up I will take do my part.

    (8) Would you characterize your online Anonymous activity as (1) mostly passive, (2) mostly active, or (3) other?
Active. I do most of my things online. Although started to go to protests also.

    (9) Have you ever felt as though your identity was being sought out by an unknown individual due to your participation in Anonymous?
Once outside a Scientololololologys place they had cameras.

    (10) What is your full name and address?

Imagine a person decided to survey cancer patients with the OP’s questions. It wouldn’t really make much sense.

Thing is, in this context I still think they don’t make sense.
  19. Gramfouleuze Member

Of course, for that to work, they would have to be Anonymous cancer patients, in which case I would have no way of surveying them.....I doubt they'd be lurking the forums while in the cancer ward. But I'm not the one who brought up not making sense! :)

We don't have addresses, you know. We all live in a commune at Ft. Longcat.
