How? Mostly by leaving out the stuff which is complete crap anyway.

The symptom of having a misunderstood word is not knowing a word. If I am reading stuff which is simply boring as all hell, I reserve the right to yawn without looking up any fucking words! Because misunderstood words are NOT the answer! The answer is that I'm reading a text on tax law, DUH. Not all text is interesting.

So he can do it this way.

1) If you encounter a word that you don't know, are aren't sure about, look it up.
2) If your teacher skipped something and you kind of got lost after that, ask him/her to back up and teach you the part that you missed.
3) Avoid studying pure theory, do some lab work too! But if someone tells you to do a "clay demo," rip off their arms and beat them with them.

The above are useful, and they're not Hubbard's. Everything else in "study tech" is pseudoscientific crap, which should be ditched with all possible haste even if there were no royalties involved.

(And I'd imagine that there are... where did the textbooks come from?)

However this is in fact a gigantic effort by 4/5 Anons. Well done Empress, I admire your conviction and strength. I hope he is willing to listen but having Scientology teachers in the school is not promising.

ON ESMB, Alan Walters talks about how 2 educators from California presented LRH with their research on study, and then LRH claimed it as his.

This was in the early 60's

Another of LRH's taking something that worked or was discovered or developed by others, and then claiming it was his brilliance that made it all happen.

No wonder some people get "wins" in scio, it contains truths that people other than Ron discovered or developed.

Because having a little bit of scientology in a school or workplace is like having a little bit of cancer within one's body. If you don't remove it immediately, it will eventually grow and spread throughout the system.

Empress, it is unlikely that the syllabus will detail how ethics are handled in the school. It is more like one of those practices that happens, but not in the classroom.

Will says he is sampling the theaching methods of other countries, and using study tech. I'm wondering if the school is going to get an accredidation, and if the students are going to be able to meet California's State Standards. Will is not a teacher. The fact he says he is going to mix around methods and change things here and there sounds like an experiment to me. Experiments don't always work, I'm worried that besides the kids getting a head full of Scientology propaganda they won't even get an education.

While the syllabi dont give the how, from what I saw by glancing over the material, the WHAT was very clearly laid out.

Ethics in the real (wog) world mean something differen than in sci-speak, where the only ethics involve KSW.

List of ethical skills listed to be learned were real world ones--how to handle and argument etc.

Alos I was heartened to see one skill in the sensitivity section (I forget which grade level, we had 7 booklets)which involved learning the similarites betwen disabled and non-disabled people. To us as adults that may seem obvious, but for younger kids especially the differences sem so glaring it is important for kids to learn the similarities we all share.

Have any of you ever known a non-$ci with a $ci spouse who handled the hell out of them? I've seen a perfectly nice guy over a period of five years start looking like a battered wife and become completely alienated from his own kids without ever taking so much as a single course, after marrying a $cientologist.

Behind her back, he was still a great guy. However, he was terrified of saying one negative thing about any $cientology crap. Dude *flinched* when I told him Hubbards sci-fi sucked.

Never took a course, but his speech started sound half-sci, he talked about how there were "Some good things with Scientology" saying it "Really helps some people" ect. ect.

Everyone is missing the truly epic win here, though.

Big Willy stood on a public street and had a civil conversation with a pack of Anons for what, 20 minutes? Was he being protected by snipers and wearing a flak jacket? Didn't think so.

Miscarriage and Davis are putting out story after story about Anons= Electrical Gorrila Clan, terrorists, van-exploders, violent criminal danger danger ....

But Will felt perfectly safe - and was perfectly safe - talking to group of Anons totally undefended.

You know, friends, I am sitting here thinking about what we've read and know about what happened today.

Here's what it sounds like to me:
Will Smith agreed to meet with known critics of his scientology-influenced and sponsored school. Critics left the meeting with his ringing endorsement by way of "my child once could not learn to read and now he can." This is the take-away for uninformed parents.

We need, IMHO, high school grad rates and college (all + tech schools) admission frequency numbers for scion-influenced/run. It should match area accredited high schools. I'd like to see the Delphi and other LA area scien-influenced schools' stats. SAT's the whole thing, just like "real" schools.

They are using classic and proven effective public relations and mass communications techniques--principals, guard, Will and on through the line.

1) Good job socal Anons! Your actions were sufficiently worrying that it got Will himself to come out there and talk to you. Let us hope that he reads the pamphlets that you gave. Pics would have been nice but it is understandable in this context.

2) Good to see that Anon's immune system kicking in as this thread unfolded. There are several odd comments made by Smith (e.g: unlicenced use of the study tech), his reaction to comments, and by trying to divert critical attention by using the autobahn analogy - which makes critical reasoning all the more important. Add to that the 'ethics officer' (WTF, why the usage of a scino term if it is a non secular school?) and other anomalies.

The thing about study tech is it is nothing new. All of it has prior art so you can use it with out having to pay a cent to the €O$. If I recall correctly there was a case where someone, who was a scientologist, made that case and won, but got declared a SP because of the case.
