    So, a one week delay.

    Not worried, but duly noted.

    Thanks.

Public Benefit Test - Report Delayed

Apologises if this is a repost. I recieved an email from the Economics Legislation Committee this afternoon about Xenophon's proposed Bill. Email reads as follows:

The link in the email basically reads as follows:

tl;dr - they've postponed the tabling of the report until the 7th of September because of the upcoming Australian Election on the 21st of August.

Though it may be re-delayed as we still have no fucking clue who the government is. I don't think it can be presented until we have a fucking clue what is going on.

Looks like things will move along tomorrow re the lower house. In any case, the report is a Senate job, and things are pretty stable there. If it is re-delayed, I don't think it will be for election reasons.

The committee will present its report to the Senate tomorrow.

Remember that the newly elected Senators do not change over immediately, so the Senate is stable.

In related news, its total chaos right now in parliament.
Bob Katter seems to have gone rogue and broken away from the other Independents just before the scheduled press conference to determine the future government of Australia.

    Fun times!

    Yes, somewhat hectic it seems!.

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get the PBT committee report today.

    re: AMAZING Senate C'tee Report!

Agreed, for some reason, despite Katter saying that the Coalition didn't help rural Australia in 13 years of Government, he thinks they'll do a better job. Me thinks it's something to do with the mining tax.

    re: AMAZING Senate C'tee Report!

Bob Katter is a faggot. He's also homophobic. See what I did there?

    re: AMAZING Senate C'tee Report!

Well, that last two of independent holders of the balance of power have just indicated their intention to support Labour. Oakeshott really milked the moment. Twat.
So, go form your gubmint and, in the meantime, give us that fucking senate committee report plox.

    YESSSSSSS!!!!

I think... ? Can someone give more tl;dr on this? Still busy watching the election coverage...

    re: AMAZING Senate C'tee Report!

From reading through the recommendations, its looking like a great win to me.
Not only is there the recommendation of a charities commission body - focused on transparency and accountability, but also a CULT COMMISSION to clamp down on dangerous cults - ie Scientology!

    re: AMAZING Senate C'tee Report!

I got an email from the Committee Secretary with a copy of their recommendations attached as a PDF file.

I got the email as I testified before the Committee.

However my computer will not download a PDF file from anywhere on the web (the one attached by the secretary or any other one from any site). Yet I can read PDF files that are on my computer.

It's like when downloading from the internet it tries to download and then I get a question mark. And I have the latest version of adobe reader on the computer.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to read such files????

    Thanks!!!

Will be something up with your browser plugins...

For now, try right-clicking on the link to the PDF, and choosing save to put in on your harddrive somewhere, and opening it from there.

The committee has recommended far more than I had dreamed they would.

    I am thoroughly gobsmacked.

It will get no publicity today due to the election - oh, wait! Today Tonight at 6.30pm!
